Lol...our town cancels school if snow is just predicted. Crazy. When I was a kid, the buses would put chains on the bus and pick us up late...we STILL went to school, rarely was school totally canceled. .

The media always makes a big deal out of bad weather. But the local and state DPWs have been dealing with bad weather for a hundred years and they have been preparing for this winter since last spring. Their equipment is in shape and ready to go, their employee schedules have been worked out, sand and salt stockpiled and of course they have a TV in their office tuned to the weather stations!
