Afonso Bandhold blame it on the doctors who expect to be paid $400,000+ k and want work life balance and low patient loads. And yet, our doctors are the most sought after in the world. Blame it on the Pharma and Med tech companies in the US that are world leaders on new therapies and innovations that you all benefit from. Government control stunts and slows innovation and naturally makes people less hungry to better themselves. Keep in mind that the US is not a homogenous country like Sweden or japan etc...there are many many races and cultures that clash on values and the “right way”. My friend studied in the US and went back home to Canada and is now a surgeon. She comments that even though healthcare is “free” it sucks. Patient quality outcomes are lower than in the US and you can’t see a doctor quickly. Competition is a good thing unless you already know you’re less intelligent and below average you’d benefit from everyone staying “equal” and being paid the same etc bc big brother is sustaining your existence.
@kataratify4 жыл бұрын
Jeff Hur But yet Canada doesn’t have 45,000 people dying every year because of a lack of insurance. No, the system might not be perfect. Yes, you might have to wait longer. But care is based on need, not by those who can or cannot afford it. Who’s funding the universities who do the initial research on those new therapies? Oh, right. Taxpayers. So then a big pharma company can go through, buy the rights to the research and not allow generic versions of said drug to be made. Then they get to rake in the profits.

America has been living on this tilt for so, so long. My parents were only maybe 15 years away from retirement and they have a salaried job that WILL NOT pay if they DO NOT go into work. They have some savings that will absolutely be wiped out if this doesn't get turned around soon. And by that I mean in a month or two (at the most.) That struck a chord when he said he may not ever see his parents retire. The inequality in this country, the workforce that depends so much on hourly positions, living pay check to pay check. It is absolutely no surprise. My deepest fear is that things will go back to business as usual when this ends. The rich will get richer and the poor will get poorer. I hope it doesn't happen, but the United States is such an individualistic country that it's hard to imagine a scenario where this doesn't slide into worse territory quickly.

My mom makes $130,000 a year and works from home. Her take-home is maybe half that amount due to social security, medicare, and income taxes. I lost everything in 2018, including my 70k job, had my car repossessed, everything in default. My sister also had to pack her three kids up and move back in after she had her third kid and the guy just walked away again. We've done a lot of work to become financially stable as a household, and this whole economic epidemic has tanked that. My sister is now filing bankruptcy. My mom is having to extend a debt repayment plan she's half-way through. And I'm still swimming in $170k debt post-layoff in 2018. Right now, we have to be head down, focused on building new skills and being ready to restart the workforce on a substantially improved footing. Learn Excel in and out. Practice your pitch and oration. Cram study a new language. No one can afford to show back up to work without bringing a new skill with them. That's the only way we will avert a major economic downturn. We all have to innovate our work now. We can't afford to be depressed by the circumstances we've all helped, even in tiny ways, to reach this peak risk and consequence. Do something. Do something big. Do not sit down, raise your hand, and wait to be called. No one's coming to call on you for your questions, concerns, or opportunities. We got here by division. We need to start adding back in, and multiplying those results to get back to where we were and move forward.

absolutely! i really hope this is a major wake up call for Americans to be more responsible and independent. im seeing so many people saying things like "how am i supposed to afford food with no job". the answer is simple, #1 its FEMA protocol to have 1 month+ of food at your home. #2 its personal finance 101 to have 3-6 months of living expenses saved up in an emergency fund. go watch some Dave Ramsey... this also should make people realize that they need to grow a garden. i know not everyone owns a home, but for those that do, if you have a 0.25 acre yard you can grow enough food for your whole family. during WW2 the government encouraged everyone to grow their own gardens, so the commercial agriculture and logistics could go to the war effort. after the war private home gardens grew more food than the commercial agriculture sector. why have Americans become so soft and dependent? why have we given up on the basic human animal instinct to be self reliant and plan for the future? 170 years ago my family members went on a journey towards California in hopes of finding gold in the gold rush, and they did pretty well there. on the journey they faced starvation, the cold and attacks by native Americans. they didnt expect daddy government to come save them. why do we depend on government so much today? you're responsible for yourself. its time to bring back the independent self sufficiency that built this country. i really dont understand how we got to this weak dependent place. what school or university is teaching that government is supposed to support us. i never learned that garbage and im glad i didnt. for the first 4 years of my working career i worked at near minimum wage. i saved my money, lived frugally and stayed out of debt. its not rocket science.

@Spike Flea definitely, its a straight up national security threat relying on China, our #1 enemy for our supply chains. its stupidity beyond belief. its literally like relying on Nazi Germany in WW2 for our supply chains. it makes no sense. they are a communist dictatorship that killed 100m of their citizens last century and in 2020 they have 2m innocent muslims in concentration camps. its not like this is a new thing. we should never have done $1 worth of trade with them.
