As a Nigerian, it's so refreshing to see objective coverage of my country's socioeconomic, political situation. It is undeniable that we face so many issues stemming from tribalism, economic mismanagement and corruption, especially due to our current ruling party. How we will get out of the current quagmire is beyond me. I am also glad to see someone who doesn't just say that our problems are due to colonialism or racism. Respect to you.

Nigerian here, I absolutely love the video. It is honest, accurate and not judgey. Nigeria is a terribly managed country and that is the source of its problems. Nigerians have a similar mentality to Americans, we might not be the best, but we are determined, energetic and vocal about our abilities and strengths, however, Nigeria has the worst people in the world managing it. I currently make more than both my parents, but In Dollar terms I make less than they did 3 years ago. It is a hilarious situation. Great video, I can't wait for the next one💪🏿

One thing to also add is that a lot of resentment is from the rigged elections that put Tinubu in office,the fact that he encouraged protests in past administrations but suddenly is against it now, the poorly thought out economic policies that the past two administrations have rolled out with no thought to the consequences and the pervasive tribalism that makes the fear of another civil conflict an ever present danger. Also, the massive national debt, food mark-up to over 300% and the police brutality. Then the fact that most politicians have no idea what they are doing. Murphy's Law is a part of the Nigerian national constitution. Everything that can go wrong is going wrong.

Most northern politicians and elites tend to implement terrible economic policies that inevitably ruin the rest of the country, not just their own region, and due to the nature of our national system, we in the more economically productive south have to deal with the consequences of their actions.

You should hate your own southern politicians first. They keep you poor. You just blame others for your misfortune instead of trying to improve your areas. Not our fault that the top 10 states with the most crime are in the south. Or the fact that more southern states are reliant on federal aid to even function. As a Nigerian, this is quite frankly an amazing report you've put together. You explained all the rage and anger we feel, and even highlighted the hypocrisy of the ruling party. On the fuel subsidy: there is reason to believe the government simply redirected the funds and are using it to line their pockets, but because government financing is so opaque, we dont have proof of this. I am not pro political violence, but in the face of hunger, oppression, greed, and wanton poverty, coupled with repression from the police, what choice do we have?

These are the last generation that are too influenced by their tribal identity. One of the most absurd experiences in Nigeria recently was the currency swap. The memory of the immense suffering it caused still irritates me. Can you imagine having to buy your own currency on the black market at 50% of its face value? The Naira traded against itself at rates as high as 1 Naira for 1.5 Naira.
