Nikola Jokic has already cemented himself as one of the greatest players of this generation.
He’s made 5 all-star games, 5 all-NBA teams - including 3 first-team nods - and won 2 MVPs at only 28 years old!
Despite that success, the NBA media, players and its fans CONTINUE to disrespect Nikola Jokic.
Why? And it there anything the "Joker" can do to earn his respect?

Let's face it, the real reasons for the Jokic haters are: he is not an american; he has 'incorrect' skin color (for NBA); he does not pocess scary big muscles, but off-the-chart basketball IQ; he is humble and keeps his mouth shut most of the time; Anything else to add?

The only reason they're talking about the Denver Nuggets is because the media were called out hard. They're not even subtle about owning up to it, and basically saying as long as the Nuggets are on top we'll talk about them because we have to, and if Nuggets lose, we will go back and continue to talk about the Lakers which is what we still want to do. You can see fumes going out of Perk's nostrils these days cause he is eating crow and is force to talk about Jokic whom Perk hates with a passion. Perk, probably the biggest reason why Jokic lost the MVP. Perk is known for justs just a talking head, and I don't think he has a lot of clout among his peers, but bringing out the race card I felt put everyone in the media in a corner. Where they media didn't want the potential backlash of "Racism". Same people who gave Jokic a vote for MVP the last 2 years are the same people who voted this year. Regardless if Jokic had a minor dip in his production in the regular season, people already made up their minds, until Perk opened his mouth. To top this off, Embiid cried foul the year before accusing people not liking him. People also remembered that.

The media doesn't like Jokic because he's drama free. There is no "story"around Jokic, he's just a guy who is really good at basketball. He doesn't cause social media drama like Ja, he doesn't cause organizational drama like KD, and he doesn't cause in game drama Draymond, so it's hard to turn him into ratings. The media wants drama to sell, and Jokic is a drama free zone, so they don't want to talk about him any more than they have to.

When the wars in ex-Yugoslavia started, we Serbs were portrayed as Russians are portrayed today. It doesn't matter that such nonsense was spread by the same media that spit on Jokic today, the people in the Western "democracy" don't have time to do their own research and see what is really happening. It is unthinkable that a white man from Serbia would be the best basketball player in the world, just as it is unthinkable that the best tennis player of all time would be a man from Serbia, Novak Djokovic. It doesn't matter that Novak is the best and that Jokic is the best, the media spit on them all the time. There is no cure for that, it's just the way it is and we in Serbia are aware of that. Honestly, we don't care what the West thinks about them. Just pronounce the names correctly and spit as much as you want, we don't give a sh''t...

Novak is not the best tennis player of all time. Rafa Nadal dominated clay in his prime. He owned the French Open, but was capable of winning other majors. Federer dominated Wimbledon in his prime, but was also capable of winning on hard courts in other majors. Novak is amazing and is definitely part of the big three. Boy, he was great at returning serve. He could turn defense to offense. Nadal was good at it, too. Federer could serve. He had such precision with his shots. I don’t know if we will ever be blessed with such great talent. I am thankful that I saw them play at such a high level for so long.

Embiid got gifted his mvp the same way Perkins is implying Nowitski, Nash, and Jokic got gifted the mvp. NBA media might be the worst sports coverage of all the major sports. I can't think of a single other league who would blatently disrespect the obvious best player in the league every chance they get. It's astounding how different the NFL and NBA are. Non-major markets are the class of the NFL (Buffalo, KC, Cincinnati, Green Bay recently). Those teams get so much God damn attention. The NFL has no problem with smaller market teams dominating the narrative, and their league is the most successful in the country. The NBA blinds itself to every team not from a major market, and NBA media refuses to accept that a European born player isn't just one of the best scorers in the league, but is objectively the single best player in the league. The bias in the NBA *from its literal media and the organization itself* is shockly blatent, and detracts from the sport as a whole.

Steve Kerr said it perfectly - When Jokić is on the floor and has the ball, everyone is a threat. With that said, many NBA superstars praised Jokić game and high IQ that seems unmatched in todays league. He is the last player you would like to face and the first player you would love to play with, because he is not into all that shiny superstar type of thing. He is focused on winning as a team and anything besides that doesnt matter. Won MVP ? Cool. Won it again? Cool. Embiid won the third and not him ? Cool. If Im not mistaken, he said he really doesnt care much about individual trophies and doesnt even remember where he put his first MVP award. He doesnt even have any social media, so he is stress free about him being talked about and while ESPN and other terrible media brag about who is better than him, he doesnt care about it at all and probably watch his horses in the meantime. I was getting annoyed with the amount of disrespect he got while breaking records (also Chamberlains that wasnt broken for decades) and carrying Nuggets to finals, but if not our MVP doesnt give a single F about it, why should we ? Let them talk crap, let Embiid have MVP - Jokic will take Finals MVP and ring instead of it.

Jokic is leading the league in WS/48 and PER since 2019-2020. He is one of the most efficient scorer on all positions, and by far the most efficient on all three positions together. What I just don’t get is why the NBA media (mainly ESPN pundits, other than PTI crew) keeps compounding on its own mistake of not giving the league’s best players - big or small market - the respect they deserve All they want to do is shine the spotlight on the more popular players but they’re just doing themselves a disservice bc they sound goofy asl and in the process the league’s gonna lose Finals ratings bc Denver was constantly brushed off to the side. Spurs got plenty of coverage and respect with (mostly) drama-free Duncan, and they were popular for it
