Nip was on his way to becoming one of the biggest rappers to come out of LA. The day he was killed that shit broke my heart. I’m 47 years old and Biggie is my favorite rapper ever followed by Pac and then IceCube. When Pac and Biggie were killed within a 6 month period that shit hurt the hip hop community so hard. But in the last less than a decade the hip hop community has lost so many rappers from violence to drugs. It really sad. But the Nip thing was crazy. Nip was supposed to be untouchable in his hood. But like Boosie said,”Most rappers get killed in their own cities “ which is so true. Yes there are exceptions to this like PNB Rock,Pop Smoke. There was a article in around 2020 in XL magazine that talked about the 77 rappers who had been killed up to that point and that 40 of those killings have not been solved and are cold cases. Nip tried to help his community by hiring people who had felony records who were from the hood. He could of opened his store on Melrose or somewhere in a better neighborhood but chose to keep it in his hood and look what happened to him. Nip would be alive today if the Marathon store was on Melrose. I guarantee you that!!! This shit is just so sad.
