Many people acked me in comments: Where do tundra nomads get all the cigarette and chocolate and lots of condensed milk? Their grocery shopping is very tricky thing! So I decided to dedicate a new video to this interesting process

The blue eyes of the reindeer! I recently learned that their eyes turn from brown in summer to blue in winter. The blue helps them see better in the low light of arctic days. They are the only mammals on Earth to have this adaptation 🤩

My great grandfather came from this life. He moved to the US and married an Irish woman who gave birth to my grandfather who moved further in and fought in WW1 and WW2. He married a German woman who gave birth to my mother who then gave birth to me. I look at the pictures of my great grandfather. It's so endearing to me how strong he was. I live in constant fear that one day I will lose everything. I doubt this family worries that much. It's an odd feeling I can't describe watching this video.

As someone who has visited the tundra, I can only say that it’s not an easy life. It’s so cold out there that you don’t shiver but your body aches in pain. Three days and I spent most of it indoors whereas these people are constantly working for their survival and the survival of their animals.

Grew up on an Indian Reservation and I think I have way much easier but, its kind of heartwarming to see people living the same I used to. Not in teepees but like in put together structures with the bare minimum. A bed, a stove, a table, and some chairs. To me its reminds me that at the end of the day their people trying to survive in the only they know how. I don't think I would survive living this way, these are strong people! Edit 07/05/23 : I would just like to say that I did see they bought other items like yogurt and other foods. I guess I'm just so used to seeing massive carts of groceries in local marts for families. And to my understanding, they eat a lot of high protein/fat so they require less "junk" like we city folk do!

I live in a tropical archipelagic country, and I will probably never feel snow in my life. This is beyond fascinating for me. Thank you for sharing it. I did not even know that there are reindeer herders. And that they've maintained the centuries-old nomadic lifestyle. They remind me of indigenous communities living in the mountains in my country. Except that they're not nomadic and have learned to settle and farm crops.

My grandmother is native Siberian, unfortunately she passed away when I was a kid. I'm grateful for everything she taught me and I'm happy to watch this video tonundertand more how people live in cold weather. When it said that they move every two or three days, it struck me that here was a very effective way for the rest of us to solve the problem with hoarding or just accumulating too much stuff. This is an amazing program. The life is so hard. The men and women are brave, courageous, and strong. The children are so capable. For them it’s a constant fight for survival, hence people don’t have time to waste and misbehave. They learn patience and tolerance. There’s team effort, team spirit, and camaraderie.
