1. Don't give up on a product on the first try, try different ways, play around with ratios. 2.Deep conditioning YOUR hair per week or so. 3. Don't touch your hair while drying 4. Dont use to much products, that will weight them down. 5. Distribute your product EVERYWHERE!!! Don't miss any spots. 6. Scrunch your hair a lot!! ( when its wet, its better) 7. Have haircuts regularly, like the micro trim every once in a while. (8-10 weeks) 8. You need to use a strong hold cream or gel to hold your curls for a day or too! 9. Don't take someone else hair routine, every type is different! FInd your own routine!

And you'r absolutly right about the cgm it's not for everyone just do whatever works for your hair silicones, miniral oils, sulfates...

Wow this is an amazing list! this are all things that I have realized after 5 years of going curly (some I have only learned recently) another tips that I would like to add is NEVER STOP LEARNING, there are like a bizillion videos on youtube, as our hair changes by becoming healthier or the texture is different, it grows longer... we need to continuesly adapt our routine. Keep trying new things, new methods, new combinations

Your hairy is beautiful and I love the color. My hair is a 3B sandy brown long curly and thick. I have used fermented rice water, real Aloe Vera and the inversion method for the last 5 year. After having 2 sets of twins and 1 daughter my hair started thinning and breaking and now it's back at my tailbone and healthy. Socks, twist outs and curlformers or my different patterns for curls. I only use heat on my hair every 6 to 8 months. I trim my hair every 4 to 5 months. Wigs are my go to for different looks and colors

Hi, it's Jen. I like the hold i get from gel, but not the dryish texture if that makes sense. With leave ins and dreams my hair starts to look kinda heavy and feel producty. Basically, I want lovely soft waves with definition without the product feel 😂😬. Yes, I've tried every type. I've tried single product everything layered, and every technique in between. My hair is to my waist now and that adds to the heaviness part.

Have you tried a mousse? I felt the same way as you about gels, then I tried the not your mother's curl talk mousse and feel in love- it gives great hold like a gel but if you don't use too much it doesn't feel producty in your hair or weigh it down at all. Hope that helps!:)

I'm still not sure do I have wavy hair.When I was little I used to have really curly hair,but the more I started growing up my hair was wavy at top and curly at the bottom.When I was 13 years old my hair turned staright,it didn't have any volume and it will curl up only at middle.Then I cutted my hair in layers and I left my hair to air dry and it was curly.Every time I washed my hair it was curly,but the next morning it looked like ramen noodle and frizzy,so I would always brush it wich only made it worse.Now I don't know what to do with my hair,can you please give me some advice?♡

If you aren't already doing these things, hopefully these tips will help you: 1) You should sleep with your hair in a pineapple (a loose high ponytail or bun depending on your hair length). Also if you have a satin pillowcase that really helps reduce frizz. 2) Stop dry brushing your hair! Brushing your hair dry can cause breakage and I recommend only brushing your hair when it's wet and has a conditioner or a leave in in it. Some people have better results dry brushing their hair, but try to stop for a while and see if it helps reduce frizz and breakage. 3) When you wake up your hair probably still will be a bit frizzy. Try shaking out your roots a little. If you really want more curl definition, you can spray your hair so it's damp and twist a few curls that you want to get back. You can also do a full curl refresh (there's videos on KZbin explaining that). 4) This isn't really a tip, but your hair totally can be curly and yet flatter or wavy on the top. I have long, fine, and medium density curls that grow down instead of out. This means that as my curls dry, they tend to cling to my scalp and make my hair look flat on top and really curly at the bottom where they aren't weighed down. To combat this, use lightweight products and don't apply moisturizing products too heavily near your scalp. I like combing through my leave in conditioner from under my hair and lifting it off the scalp. A lot of people also clip their roots for volume, but I don't have any clips so I like to plop my hair in a tshirt, let it air dry a little, and then wear it in a high pony tail to lift up my roots. Hopefully some of this was helpful. Also sorry for writing an essay. I'm sure your hair is beautiful and in time you will figure out just how to take care of it:)

Hey I used to have the same issue and then I would brush my hair out which left my hair looking like a poof ball but I didn’t know what else to do so I just brushed it out everyday anyways. Nearly a year ago tho I realized that I have curly hair and should start taking care of it properly. I started watching a bunch of curly hair routines and videos and this is what I do w my hair now it might work w u too. If I want to brush my hair out before I take a shower I drenchhhh it w coconut oil and then brush it out to save me time in the shower but most of the time I just brush it in the shower. I use my shampoo at the scalp only and then wash it out upside down. I then split my hair down the middle in two and put in my conditioner avoiding the scalp and then brushing it out. After I brush it out I put it in a bun and wash my body and after I scrunch out the conditioner making sure to still have a bit in. When I leave the shower I make sure my hair is dripping wet and then immediately apply my products. I use a leave in conditioner and smooth it over my hair and then scrunch it in and then I use a curl smoothie smooth it over and then scrunch it in. And then I just let it sit there while I dry off my body and put my clothes on. And then I scrunch in a bit of gel. After that I plop my hair in a cotton t shirt (u can look it up on KZbin) and then when I wake up I take my hair out of the shirt and then shake out the roots and scrunch it out a bit. Some tips: make sure u never use a towel on ur hair this causes frizz and use a microfibre towel or a cotton shirt instead. Don’t sleep on your hair instead put it on top of ur head in a bun. Ur hair is usually frizzy due to lack of moisture try some products to help that. Okay that’s all 😂

Is it bad that the only thing that helps me get a good hair day is a mask that includes silicones and alcohol in its ingredients? I have been trying to embrace my natural hair since 2016, looking at videos and trying out different products that are silicone, sulfate and paraben free and different methods of applying. For some reason i cant find anything that works and my hair ends up looking dry and always has a layer of frizz on top even tho my lower layers are wavy. I recently tried a hydrating hair mask that is helping me obtain soft, shinny hair with minimal frizz but it doesnt have the best ingredients. Im afraid that it will affect me in the future since i always hear to avoid those ingredients.

Could anyone please give me some advice on my hair? My hair is around type 2B, I usually have curls maintained and waves.. and I'm asian (if that makes a difference). So I've been doing the curly hair method for 5+ years, and managed to maintain my curls for 4 years. Recently for 5 months, it really seems like my curls have completely disappeared. There's not really any wave pattern and absolutely no curl. It is wavy when it's wet and I apply products, however when it dries, it becomes wavy to just limp looking. My hair however feels 100x healthier and smoother. I've been deep conditioning at least once a week in my whole curly hair journey. The one thing that has changed is that I've reduced my use in gels and hold products. Should I not be doing that? (oh and also I dye my hair... but still deep condition it a lot)
@jaceyschweitzer23804 жыл бұрын
Have you tried adding some protien to your hair- like using a protein treatment instead of a deep conditioner every now and then. Wavier hair like type 2 tends to not need as much moisture as type 3 and especially type 4. I'm a mix between type 2 and 3 and I was deep conditioning once a week for a while but realized my hair was becoming over moisturized, which made it super soft and unable to hold any curl/wave. I stopped deep conditioning as much and began switching between deep conditioners and protein treatments when I felt like my hair needed it and my hair went back to holding curls- balance is key! Hope that helps:)
@jaceyschweitzer23804 жыл бұрын
Also by reducing gels and hold products, you have gotten rid of the small amount of protien your hair was getting, which probably added to this over moisture
