I don’t remember which video was it but watch Manes by mell videos. I think one of the reasons for flat roots was applying too much product in the length of the hair which makes the hair weigh down. Also, for better curly results, do finger coiling once in a while after applying your styling cream or whatever you use.

Cameron Seymour- The CGM works for some people, not so much for others. It brushes over the most important parts of making your hair healthy, like not brushing while it’s dry and not using sulfates. Everyone’s hair is different and different products work in different people’s hair.

Sleep tip: instead of putting hair up, just flip/lay it over the pillow (silk pillowcase of course!), that way you don't lay on it, but hairties won't destroy the curls, like the pineapple does for me. (I will mention, I am a 2c/3a, with fine hair, so my curls are easily messed up). Edit: works best for still sleepers! XD

Epsom salt spray really brings out my curls even at my roots. This only works if your hair gets curlier when you go to the beach. I guess it’s the same chemical reaction? 1/2 teaspoon epsom salt dissolved in 1 cup hot distilled water, (can add 10 drops of lavender essential oil for a lovely scent), spray generously, scrunch well, let dry (it dries stiff. Don’t panic!), scrunch well again until the stiffness is softened. Epsom salt can be drying so deep condition weekly. Strangers have complimented my hair. Such a confidence boost after years of feeling ugly. I can’t use gels, creams, etc. My skin breaks out everywhere (face, neck, ears!) my product-laden hair touches it so the only thing I can use is epsom salt spray. I also use aloe vera spray since it doesn’t cause breakouts and has very light hold. The Denman brush did not enhance my curl pattern unfortunately. My hair is too thin/fine.

I’ve been growing my hair for over a year now. So addicted to “dusting” my own hair that this entire video all I wanted to do was take scissors to that little piece of straight curl to our left (your right) 😆 Perfect video! Denman brush is magic. I’m not a fan of using ACV anymore and tired of trying new products so often. Instead of deep conditioning I’ll soak my hair in real aloe Vera gel and leave in heat cap for at least 30min before shampooing with curlsmith moisturizing shampoo and letting hair air dry with a leave in conditioner.

I had curls when I was younger but we didn’t know how to manage it and it was straightened every time I was at a dance tournament (which was multiple times a week and it’s still like that and this is for 8 years) so I’m trying to get my curly hair back because when I look back at you pictures of me I wish I had that hair. I’m not straightening my hair anymore but I still need to get the curls back😔🙏

I feel you, in school I damaged my hair it taken 2 years for my hair to look curly again. I'm still working on it. Finger coiling has helped with bring back the curl. I also been sleeping with a a bonnet at night to kind of help not damage them.

I had a Denman brush in high school. Back in the days where I straightened my hair every single day. I lost the brush years ago and when I started really looking into how to enhance my 2c hair, I saw that brush mentioned and kicked myself for not keeping that brush. I've already ordered a new one because seeing several ladies' results with it really showed me how much of a difference it really makes. I also use a wooden bristle brush because I've heard that the wood absorbs your natural oils from your scalp and spreads them throughout your hair way more easily. Granted, I only get that chance once a week, but still!

I've had really good success with three different curl enhancers: DIY flaxseed gel, Jessicurl Rockin' Ringlets (glycerin free), and Uncle Funky's Daughter's Curl Magic (has aloe vera). They really bring out and tighten my curls. Although I do need a bit of style/hold gel with Rockin' Ringlets and the Curl Magic for the best results.

When I was born I had tight, red ringlets. As I grew up it was a wavy blonde. It got curlier when I was 11-12 and became very very long and curly / wavy. I loved it. I chopped it. I hated how short it was. I started hating the curls. I started heat damaging it ON PURPOSE. I repeat ON PURPOSE. I would do a rinse of steaming hot water on my hair in the shower for about a minute and straightening it everyday without heat protectant. Now I have medium length and horribly damaged hair. I don’t have an curl definition any more.

Yes! It does take a while to get your hair back to normal, but be patient! I am living proof. In high school, I *hated* my curly hair. I used to use a clothing iron.. a _clothing_ _iron_ .. to straighten my hair every week with no heat protectant. I stopped doing that because it just became tedious doing it every morning before work and I burned my self so many times. Years later, my hair is curly again and I love my curls!!

I used to straighten my hair (3A/B curls) almost every single day too. Now I barely use heat anymore to style my hair and although it's difficult in the beginning, it's really worth it. I never followed the strict curly girl method rules, just picked up tips and tricks here and there and went with what I felt like worked best for my hair (mild sulfates once a month, no silicones, deep conditioning once a week, diffusing, scrunching to name a few), but the transformation after 2-3 months was pretty incredible (even to me, although I'm usually my harshest critic) and thinking about what my hair could look like once all the heat damage has grown out/cut off makes me really excited about my natural hair journey. The beginning is scary when you're used to straightening all the time and basically have no clue how to handle your natural curls (trust me on this one though: your curls are as confused as you are at this state. Give them some time!), but not only the final outcome but also the journey is totally worth it! Almost all of my straight haired friends love my natural hair and wish they had curls too, so if nature has blessed you with natural curls, take good care of them and embrace them! ❤️

All good stuff. Only thing is cold water does not seal the cuticle. You’re better off with hot water. It’s all about ph. Use distilled water or apple cider vinegar. Staying around that ph will seal that cuticle!! And yes Ik it sounds crazy but water at different temps or stages has a different ph.

For those of us that are celiacs, wheat protein is POISON. It can make our hair fall out, and get rashes/psoriasis or eczema type rashes. Of course, not everyone has these problems, but for those of us that are gluten free, this is a big issue for us. Even though our hair doesn't "digest" wheat from eating it, it still is a poison for us and we get issues from being exposed to it on our skin.

Yep! You just have to angle the brush how I showed in the video, and twist your wrist around so the hair wraps around the edge of the brush as you pull down the strand. That’s what gives it the ringlet. You may not get actual ringlets since your texture is looser, but it will give it more wave.

I'm pretty sure I've seen a couple of other wavy KZbinr's use the Denman brush, and they got good results. You'll want to check and make sure, but I believe if you buy it from ULTA and you keep your receipt, if it doesn't work for you then you can take it back, but I got one of the small ones like she had from Amazon and it wasn't that expensive. You can always give it to a little girl to use on her dollies if it's too much of a hassle to return but you wanted to try it. 🙄 🤷‍♀️
