She uses so much force... And people like this are calling them selves dog trainers.

It's crazy how she even has the nerve to call what she does training!

This is a new experience and new person for the dog. Welcomed by pain and force. Not a good way to create trust. Training is 80 percent patience. And 20 percent LOVE of Training, creating a bond especially with a new dog.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO! I commented on the original video saying this was a classic example of learned helplessness and got some pushback from her. Glad to see you reviewing this saddening video

What abusive trash. No need for any of that over a freaking crate that the dog has no positive association with or reason to enter, let alone reside calmly in for any period of time. I failed disastrously at crate training my dog because I rushed it and he nervously turned the crate into a potty. So I took the crate away and basically puppy-proofed his environment. No problems besides a murdered plant (R.I.P.), a few toilet paper rolls, and some soda can cartons. Big deal. Sorry, plant. I'm agnostic on crates but I have not found any personal use for them. I do believe in letting a dog go to a place where they will be left alone and in peace, wherever that is. A crate *can* be that place but it can be a mat or someplace where they know they can simply just be. Creating a negative association with a crate is not "training."

When I trained a Guide Dog I threw a stuffed Kong into the crate and he would run inside.

I consider my training method to be a balanced approach. Crate training with anything other than positive reinforcement seems so counter-intuitive to me. Your dog is supposed to see their crate a safe place. Why you would use a leash to crate-train is beyond me

didnt matter what approach i tried my dog just never ended up liking the crate. some see it as their own personal cave but others see it as the thing that keeps them from their owners.

If you watch the video I link in the description of this channel, you can see how I would teach a dog to get into a kennel. 👍

Cheese Whiz? Horrifying. Better to throw treats in back of the crate to get dog in, take time to get the dog used to the crate. Sloppy, painful, forceful training. Why are trainers like this so lazy? For the money.

@K9Tay I love how when puppy-owners ask American trainers for advice when they explain the legality, they tell the innqurier tto break the law. But no one ever mentions the government doesn't ban babygates. Not even force-free trainers.

to me they are a bit of a necessary evil. an owner crating a dog all day is wrong but if my dog needed to stay for a few days at the vet for recovery...now crating for an extended period of time no longer sounds like a bad thing. the key is the intent behind the person doing the crating. crating isnt all that bad if the dog gets breaks in between, is being used for safety reasons, or recovery reasons. if its being used as a way to not deal with the dog all together and the dog is never let out then yes it can be seen as cruel.

@@angelinacamacho8575 K9Tay usually have a title card warning some of the methods American dog-trainers use are illegal in other countries. Obviously Finns and Scandinavians still crate-train their dogs because crates are required for cars, vet visit, dog shows, hunting etc.
