Hey Everyone! In this video I travelled across Europe to climb the highest mountain in Poland, Mount Rysy. This video should give you an idea of how to do the hike yourself, which I definitely recommend as it is stunning.

So glad you acknowledged you were a tourist. Drives me crazy when travel vloggers complain about tourists when they are one.

i was there in the fall of 1977. yes you have to start early. we headed out before dawn. Made the summit and it was dark when we got back. North facing slope so gets dark earlier than sundown. And the descent is more dangerous than the climb up.

@@adamlynch6279 my partner and I did it in summer of 2021 (August), took us about 5-6 hours from the hut (where we stayed the night before) to the summit and about 2.5/3.5 hours down (started at 7:30 from the hut and got back at 15:30). However, it rained the previous 3 days before so the rocks were slick especially up past 2100m. Above where this video stops, the "climb" begins, where you'll be scrambling up rock with exposure on all sides. There's chains to help provide security and handholds, but it's still an very challenging climb. Highly recommend full outdoor gear for this trek.

I have some comments. The mountains are very dangerous because the weather changes quickly. You had the wrong shoes. You should have hiking shoes. It's good to have gloves and a jacket in your backpack. When I was young (40 years ago) there weren't so many people there. There are as many people there as at Piccadilly Circus. They should set up traffic lights there. XDXDXD

Haha yes it was super busy! We did have gloves and jackets in our bag, we do need to buy some hiking boots though.

@@thisdrinkinglife to be fair that is quite good advice, all mountains are dangerous and taking risks is not the game with any of them- even here in England where ours are only little.

Everythings fine exept your shoes are realy interesting for mountains... Especially at Rysy.. In High Tatry ,that is bad example for people who watching that video.. And by the way ,this is not safe ..Safety is first.. That's my opinion!Greetings from Poland mOuntainMan

Please do your self a favour and distinguish between a hike and a climb because this turned into a climb rather quickly and you were not at all prepared for that. I have seen tourists die "on a hike" like that in the Alps. Rocks are slippy, rocks are falling, weather changes quickly, panic can kick in, days end (like you mentioned) and a lot more.... Get yourself proper shoes and proper gear all around. Even on days like this you want to be able to change into clothing like its mid february. Good luck and keep exploring!

I have hiked Rysy and it is not really a “climb”. There are chains at the steepest parts. A reasonably fit hiker should be able to do it. The main risk is the crowds and the weather. It’s quite exposed, and as he found, it takes a long time. Best to leave very early in the morning.

That's good advice, hundreds of ill-prepared people have died on those Tatra trails. As you say, it can quickly turn dangerous and lots of factors that people haven't prepared or even thought about can suddenly creep up on you !

On the way, there are fewer people, because by the toilets there is a reflection of the trail to the Valley of 5 Ponds and to the shelter in Roztoka, and earlier to Polana Waksmundzka. Of course you made the standard mistake of Janusz and Grażyna :D The peak you are showing is not Rysy, it is Niżnie Rysy (2430 m), quite a different mountain. Rysy are further away from you and therefore appear lower when viewed from below. The main summit of Niżnie Rysy is about 500 m from Rysy. The distance between the Polish summit of Rysy (2500 m according to the latest measurements) and the main summit (2501 m according to the latest measurements) is about 20-30 m.

Hello! Your video is so nice and the videography is so amazing! I need some information. Since you were saying that this climbing require a long time, is there any place to stay overnight and then start on the next morning again? If not, at what time should we start so that we could make it at time? My last query is, which bus did you take to reach there? I live in Wroclaw and will plan to go there as it's an amazing place. Thank you!

Zakopane, the town can be your base, or you can also stay at the mountain shelters (they are actually very pretty and historical) dotted around the middle of the mountains which can provide overnight stay and food. Just check the availability earlier.
