I made my own citrus bitters at home a few years ago, but it was not a great success, today I am making homemade apple bitters from a recipe in a book, and it works a lot better!
Cheers!

I love that your solution to the problem of storing multiple jars of tinctures was one BIG jar of tinctures. I'm glad you were able to salvage your efforts. My failed experiments tend to go down the drain.

Thank you for sharing this! Logically your method would seem to make sense. I have people ask me that all the time if they can just blend a bunch of tinctures to make bitters. Now I have a great video to reference and link to. Those black tea lavender bitters sound delicious!

I made some lavender Bitters a few years ago. Left them in the pantry and forget about them. Kind of afraid to open them now! 😬 Yep, use that base all up! Wish I was up for the weekend so I could pick up my bitters! Cheers my friend! Enjoy the sun!

@@UnclePete Oh, lovely! I absolutely have a few recommendations, though I would say that my experience here is generally more centered on the city's wine bars. Caveat aside, the cocktails at the incomparable Sager & Wilde in Bethnal Green are absolutely worth making time for (as, indeed, is their food and wine), and the spritzes at Shoreditch's Manteca might well convert you. On the off chance that you are seeking out a wine bar, I cannot recommend Noble Rot highly enough. Extraordinary by the glass list, and an excellent menu to pair with. Enjoy your time in London!

@@UnclePete These experiments are awesome. I've had a bottle of everclear and shopping list of bittering agents and other flavorings for about however long this pandemic has been going on. One of my hang ups was do I infuse things separately or together. I kind of just got stuck and did nothing. Eventually I'll embrace no rules and try something out. What's the worst thing that can happen?

For the apple 🍎 🍏 bitters I would use that in an old fashion with applejack or Calvados. Your approach to bitters is similar to Canadian Whisky which each grain is distilled and aged separately then blended. For you base I would get #4 or #6 char staves and drop that in the mixture for 24 hours (tasting along) the add some balsamic vinegar and some water to brighten it. To bad we are not close enough to try it.

Dried ingredients (like most teas) seem to infuse very well in alcohol. So you may eat to infuse at that stage ad opposed to infusing the water
