WD40 always on nuts and bolts that have been heated or exposed to moisture. Spray on, have a cup of tea then gently try loosening. Also helps to slightly tighten first, before rotating to loosen. It helps break the seal and free the thread.

Hi Amy and Wes, Well, I am very proud of you both. Love watching all your adventures, and this week is no exception. Even washing the cap of the chimney in the River was a great idea, even though it did fall in first, but you rescued it and it was nice and clean. When you came across issues in the quest to get the fire ready for the winter, you always came up with a Great "Boat Time" solution. Great Vlog guys, and again so well put together and edited. Hoping Rufus went ofor his walk, somewhat slightly delayed. Hope Dupes is OK? Loved every second of this week's Vlog. Have a great week. Take care.

Just a small tip for any future jobs involving removing rusty bolts. If you spray the bolt with EasyOut or WD40 it will soak into the rust. Then gently try to tighten the bolt avoiding breaking the bolt head. Next try to untighten the bolt and the rust bond should be broken so the bolt will come out undamaged. When you sealed the flue pipe with sealant it would have been better to pack the joint with small diameter rope first before adding the sealant. Tips I was given before I tackled a similar job on my old wood burner.

Check out narrowboat James built 374 he bought a coal cage, that would preserve your fire bricks and the seal as logs or coal will stay inside the cage and burn efficiently. Also protecting your glass. Maybe consider preparing your fire cleaning during summer. All in all you both done very well and carried out assembling your fire back together. Keep warm, keep safe and keep sane. 🤪💚

What a pair of bodgers!😅 FYI, chips are very bad for you (said the pot to the kettle - both blackened by coal soot).🙃 Also, wood creates something like a quarter less soot😷 (though its heat output is lower), is cheaper than coal and it is possible to source supplies online.🤗
