Nice work Barry. As the saying goes, there are two types of sailor, those that have run aground and those that are lying.

Thanks Daniel, I'd forgotten about that saying. That makes me feel better about it.

Loving the sailing vids, specially when you bring it up to my sailing grounds. I also have a trailer sailor that im learning on, so can totally relate to you guys. I just dont have my mistakes on video so they never happened 😉

Thanks Josh, how much fun are trailer sailers and learning to sail? Sometimes I'm tempted to hide my mistakes but I do like to keep it real and it does make for an interesting video too 😀

Dont be disappointed, or beat your selves up, your out there doing and on track, rember when you headded out of St Helens and Rachell said about the other boats leaning over and said , " is that what we will be doing " you all have come a long way and doing great things. Cario bay will be very tame after Peel Island, and you will get a better tan from the moon in Geelong. Do you have a compass mounted, to steer to ?

Thanks James, you're right we have made progress and mistakes will always happen. We do have a compass we steer too. My problem was I got confused between what I was seeing on the water and in Navionics. Mostly because of sun glare on the faded nav marker making it look yellow instead of red. A bit more tide would've helped too. Oh well, it turned out ok.

I am no expert, but thinking if you set a corse, and when the other cew members are on the tillier, they could stear to the compass, and leave you to set up and check things out, as stearing becomes familiar and instinct, or in a straight line, that cant be all that easy, with out land marks, they will free you up. And less stress.

That is a good idea. I haven't tried getting Rach or the kids to steer to a compass bearing. Thanks

Peel looked lovely again. We are hoping to get there for a few days after Christmas. P.s we ran aground last time we went out. Entirely my fault, Pat was steering and I was streaming the AFL Grand final. She said I think we are getting shallow and for a moment I had a brain malfunction and thought the colours on Navionics was inverted ..... Gets exciting pretty quick!

It sure does get exciting quick sometimes. As long as no one is hurt and there's no damage to the boat, I suppose we just put it down to a learning experience. Have a good sail over the holiday period. I hope you get nice weather for it.

Those thing under water at 13:54 are just a bunch of butchers sausages someone chucked over the side.

By the way, the squiggly sand is from a lugworm. It's pretty much the indigestible leftovers from their dinner, so sand poo. 😂

Where did you get the canvas hood that fits over the pop top?

A previous owner had it custom made. We're lucky to have it. It gives the cabin so much more space when at anchor.

Its 25mm square aluminum tube from Bunnings that fits together with plastic corners, riveted to some angle and flat aluminum sections that are screwed to the panel frame. The tube upright fits neatly into pvc pipe attached to the pushpit with stainless hose clamps.
