There are two Keys to skiing steeps and moguls. 1. You Have to be confident and aggressive. If you ski defensively, you won't survive it. Your skis will turn into the slope just like this guy's did, with the same results. Your body will be in the wrong place to allow your skis to turn. Your leg angle has to be constantly changing and only a falling upper body can do that. It will also keep your upper body over the tips of your skis. The steering part of the skis. 2. You have to Anticipate where you want your skis to go by throwing your upper body down the hill and away from the direction your skis are going which is across the hill. You have to literally dive down the slope or between the moguls while your skis Follow you down the hill. If you think about standing on your feet and skiing down, you will be at the bottom a lot faster than you intended. 1:00 See where that guy's ski is? That is the point where your entire upper body should be falling straight down the hill while your skis are still going across it. By doing that, you are drastically changing your leg angle which will roll your skis over onto the opposite edges allowing your skis to make the next turn. In All skiing, you ski from your face, hands, chest, pelvis and knees down, in that order. From the top down, not your feet up. If you don't believe me, watch any GS racer in slow motion. The Last thing that changes direction is their skis. Your upper body anticipates where you want your skis to go or they won't.

And well don’t over analyze and overthink it. Like you did. Go for it, keep on your edges and keep enough weight on your inside ski. And don’t just trust your good side. That’s how I was taught. Not much more. And I’m still alive.
@JB91710
@JB91710 2 жыл бұрын
@@MrMarckeedee You have to absolutely analyze it, or you will do what comes naturally and that is the opposite of what you have to do. What you suggest is the natural way to approach skiing and you will do everything wrong. Sure, you will turn and be able to stop but, you won't have control enough to handle whatever comes along. Twisting and forcing your skis isn't skiing. Surviving skiing isn't enjoying skiing. You have to know what your skis need from you and give it to them. Nobody teaches that. All the world's teachers do is describe what parts of your body Look and Feel like and call that teaching. No thinking and analyzing involved.

@@MrMarckeedee In stop action, he put too much weight on his inside ski. As he falls you can see he's too far leaning to the left. He was afraid. He's traversing too high. If he were more square, slightly more fall line, he might have been able to transition his inside ski to bear the turn to the right.
