Actually its better looking than a lot of other CS2 cities I saw. People always go straight to making winding suburbs, which don't look very good in CSII imo since all of the single family homes were definitely designed to be wall-to-wall

Those parking lots are accurate for where I live. Everything has its own parking. Literally everything. this is way more realistic.

Great idea on the roundabouts. Development points to have roundabouts with statues, trees, plants, etc.

If you upgrade the roads to wider sidewalks in the commercial area it will get rid of the parking on the street forcing the vehicles into the businesses parking lots.

That's the plan! Every update so far has broken previous saves either way. Part of why I didn't put too much care into this build. That and the vertigo. Real builds won't start until they commit to not breaking save games. Probably at release.

WoohooooWooo all aboard the hype train, gonna be a long 6 weeks! Games looking awesome cant wait to play. Trying to keep expectations low however as it will not have as many assets as Sk1, which makes sense considering 7-8 years of additions. Tbf by the time weve all had a good play/mess around im hopeful a ton of things will have been released from mods to assets. Line prop tool would be great to see for release, that would be game changing for console versions. Plopping trees with control sucks.

I would like to see how the grid tool handles coming off at an angle to a main road. Everyone builds them at right angles to the main road, but how would it handle coming off at a 45-degree angle instead? would it draw past the main road to make a perfect box grid? Or would it terminate at the main road it was drawn from? a couple of things I would love to see in the final game: 1. is the ability to turn off parking on streets, without having to add wider sidewalks or grass etc. 2. the ability to turn zoning off on roads. 3. angled parking on roads. I would love to be able to turn a 4-lane road into a 2-lane road with angled parking, instead of all roads having only parallel parking. 3. height restrictions. I want to be able to build apartment buildings with a 3, 4 or even 5 story height restriction. small towns with less than 20k population just don't have 12 story apartment complex's.

Hey - MTM - I’m sorry to hear about your medical struggles. Hopefully it’s not serious. I have an inoperable brain cyst near my brain stem which blocked the flow of fluid down my spinal column. I had an emergency surgery to put in shunts and I think I’ve been OK since. In the past few years, I’ve also had episodes of vertigo and carry pills on me to help with it. Just know that there are people out here who care about you and pray for you.

Around the 12th minute mark you talk about the game being GPU bound. Is this just based on your system specs and how the game is working in it's current form? Just curious as I would presume if anything, cs2 will rely heavily on both CPU and GPU as city builders, generally speaking, use alot of CPU power. Enjoyed the video, and well wishes with the medical stuff :)

It's not optimized yet so don't know what final results will be. But right now my CPU is running cool, even while recording in OBS on same machine. But my GPU is constantly maxed. It's a beta so only time will tell.

Regarding parking, I'm not a Commie who wants to ban cars, but I would love to build a city where the roads are "sunken" in trenches and parking is underground and/or under the buildings and out of sight so that the ground level is reserved for pedestrians and bicycles like the _Not Just Bikes_ guy gushes about...

As a programmer I would say all the visuals are pretty much done, I would be surprised if they are doing anything but debugging at this stage. Personally I'm unhappy with the matt finish on everything, I like the wet road look of CS1. Also I was hoping for some gradual inbuilt visual degradation, especially as maintenance is a thing, everything looks too pristine. If you remember the first ads, I thought they were hinting at some grungy reality.

I think people were not parking inside the commercial lots because many of their clients were in walking distance. And why would you grab the car to go to the store around the corner?

Be good if someone could take us through explaining the differences between starting a city in CS and CS2. For example how much money do you actually have because there was no way you could lay so much out in CS without going bankrupt. Not to mention having to use dirt roads which never got entirely upgraded. The other thing was services, in CS they had to go up as soon as they were available, does that still hold true as well as recreation. Finally, what's the point of the groundwater, is it usable, you built industrial right over it which tells me it is irrelevant. I don't know people are just putting down pretty and not so pretty cities (those power lines were terrible) randomly with very little actual information.

We can only share so much at this point. Full tutorials will come closer to release. I can say with the current balance money is much less of a concern. You don't make money from the budget as early as in CS1, but growing your city and increasing population gives you plenty of cash to keep going until profitable. No dirt roads, no micromanaging budget required for me. But once you unlock the production chain, that's when the real money can start rolling in.
