How Often Should I Oil My Clock?

Do you know what natural oils I can use for oiling my clock? Using Synthethic are a sin and I only found whale oil as a solution which could have been used on my clock over a hundred years ago when it was made but I don't think I'll be using that. I need a oil or grease that I can get at the grocery store. :)
