How often should you retwist your locs??

I’m a little over 7 weeks into my journey. I binge watch loc videos trying to figure out how to maintain my locs. I think I’m overthinking the maintenance of my locs and will just stick to what has worked for me thus far, minimal products, just coconut and tea tree oil and water, and washing/retwisting my hair every 3 weeks. I twist mine every two months . I find some of my locs still look good after just three weeks . There’s this guy at work that KEEPS coming up to me saying “you need a retwist “ and it’s so annoying !!!! Like I’m not going to retwist when YOU want me to and if anything you TELLING me I need a retwist is just going to make me go longer so I can piss you off . And the kicker is ?…. He used to have locs !

well if the guy at work is telling you to retwist its because ots what he sees , locks that need to be retwisted .its not like u are second guessing yourself . someone is actually noticing your need to retwist

We are each an experiment of one. This is a very diplomatic, cogent video, and you’re absolutely right. Part of the experiment…ALL of the experiment is learning our own hair and responding accordingly. Well said.

The yannie cult at it again. They follow everything she does like it's a prayer book I see them all over youtube. And it's really not even always the retwisting that's thinning the locs but the improper technique. It's good to assess your hair and get to know it because you know your hair better than anyone else. Sometimes listening to a professional is wise that way you can understand the why behind what your doing but following them to a tee without really assessing if its needed just seem silly. I also wish people would verify there sources theirs also thedigitalloctician, dyxnlocs, Afrikanhairgod--locticians that don't just tell you what you need to do but the why behind as well so that you assess your hair from a place of knowledge and not just because Yannie says so. I'm glad you spoke on this. Your hair looks so healthy and full it's crazy to me that anyone even opened there mouth lol but I'm sure their heart was in a good place.

That’s the main reason why I do my loc without people telling me what works best for me. I know exactly what works best for my hair, I’m 3 years in and my roots and my locs are absolutely beautiful. Period. KZbinrs be taking this way too serious. Love all your videos sweetie. Do you.

Everybody hair is different. Your hair is beautiful. I also didn't do any research. I just woke and got locs one morning. I feel if I had did all this research,it would've drove me crazy I've said nevermind. I'm 4.5 years in I'm just like you I just leave my hair alone. wash when I want retwist when I want and I love my hair.

True, ppl have all these different tips on Locs. So each person has to do what’s best for them like you said. Glad you have a mind of your own. Your locs are 🔥 btw// and about your itchy scalp, you can try hair grease if you want idk how it’ll work for you but it helps me TONS.

Every body locks is different they do they own thing some ppl grow fast and some slow I get a retwist about every 3 in a half weeks or so but I will say I go to a Loctician
