I like to think he’s 14 because Ninten is 12, Ness is 13 so it would be neat if Lucas was 14 then (each protagonist is always one year older than the previous one). Or he could be 13, if you take Ninten and Ness’ Japanese ages (11 and 12 respectively). But either way, he should realistically range from 12-15 in my opinion.

I think hes 13 post time skip, because by the time someone is 13 theyve entered their teens, a step up from childhood. This just makes sense to me because lucas grows so much throughout the game, especially post time skip, so 13 being the mark of maturing to a teenager in most cultures is in line with lucas maturing himself. EDIT: right after I commented this I had another idea. 13 is also popularly considered as an 'unlucky number', and lucas isn't necessarily the luckiest person..

I know it could be debatable, but I feel like the Smash model resembles the post timeskip more than pre. The pre timeskip makes him look very short, and he doesn't look that short in Smash. As for the age, I always felt that he was around the same age as Ness. 12 or 13 were my guesses.

It is interesting to note that in his Fighter Spirit in Smash, the image they use for his original art is his pre-timeskip version. Obviously not confirmation, there are other Fighter Spirits that use slightly different versions of characters, but might give us a little insight Or maybe they didn’t put much thought into what they chose given the gaff with Masked Man’s sprite at first lol

I think Fuel was stated to be 12-15 so I like to think Lucas and Claus are anywhere between those ages as well. Anywhere in that age range I think is understandable, but I’m more inclined to believe he’s 12 post-timeskip because both Ninten and Ness were in their games

I feel like Lucas is the youngest of the Mother protagonists. Maybe it’s because both Ninten and Ness have younger sisters but they just give off a slightly older vibe. I also always interpreted Ninten and Ness’ support magic as more a desire to protect compared to Lucas’ being more out of caring and generosity. I feel like Lucas is 12, Ness is also 12 but closer to 13, and Ninten is 13.

Lucas is like, about the maximum I think he could be, although a little unrealistic, I *might* say his pre timeskip sprite is 12. 12 year Olds can look pretty young. And while I definitely don't think Duster's that old, there's not much in the game to say otherwise. It's *possible* Kumatora however? You know she actually grows a pixel or two during the timeskip, right? Her face doesn't change at all, so that makes me believe she was 14-15 pretimeskip and 17-18 post. She could be a little older, but I'm not sure when girls reach their final height to be honest.

@@SoftTehCustomer 18 is considered an adult in most parts of the world. I think in Japan it's even 16 or something but let's just say 18. The issue with Kumatora being over 20 years old before is because, again *she still grows during the timeskip* . Go onto the Spriter's Resource, there is a different set used before and after. They might look identical, but she is slightly taller after the timeskip. She'd have to be some kind of teen before the timeskip. I absolutely don't believe a 24 year old would actually keep gaining height. Maybe I low-balled it, but I did mention she could be *a few* years older than I estimated.

I think *at most* Lucas is 12/15. I just cant see his younger sprite being older than 12, and he was very likely intended to be a year or two younger. Kumatora's age could've been pretty vague, but if you look at the sprites, she actually grows a pixel or two after the timeskip, so she'd have to be before the age she'd reach her final height. I think 14-15/17-18 is likely, maybe a year older. I heard somewhere that (assuming Club Titiboo did not background check her age) its mentioned she's an adult, but I dont know for sure. Duster's the one with the really nebulous age. He doesn't change at all (visually) in the timeskip. Despite that, he has the widest range in the community. Some people say he's around 20, and some around 40! Me personally I think the youngest he could be is 21/24 since he doesn't change appearance. Even then, that's with a stipulation, because he definitely *looks* 5 years older. But his bad widow's peak and general disgruntled look could be explained with his upbringing, its kind of implied Wess was extremely strict and possibly even toxic, so the stress might've got to him. However, oldest I think he could be is 35/38, and i think that's unlikely, because he doesn't even *look* that old. Moreover, especially with his bad leg, I don’t know if he could keep up being the most athletic of the party at that age. I think he is likely in his mid twenties.

I think Lucas is probably 13-15 post time skip since he goes through such a noticeable growth spurt. He also matures quite a bit but he was kind of forced to given his circumstances so it's hard to count that. 13 makes the most sense to me since that's the general age of most of the main characters throughout the games from what I've seen. I'd say Kumatora is probably around 20 and Duster is around 26 after the time skip but those are just random guesses. Kumatora already having PSI for a little while before time skip and working a more adult oriented job post time skip and Duster already being a clear adult before the time skip as well as his father being noticeably older than Flint for example.

im in the boat that pre timeskip hes 12-13 and post hes 15-16, I know it's silly so it's not a hill im going to die on or anything, just a personal headcanon. I'll explain my reasoning. Earthbound felt more like a child's imagination run wild whereas m3 feels-- while still very fantastical in some areas-- a lot more grounded. And then there's the fact that the masked man is the same age as Lucas and he absolutely does NOT seem 13 to me at all. Tragedy can happen at any age, but them being around 15 better suits the themes of the story for my personal tastes. Lastly, this part is likely due to the voice actors, but Lucas sounds older than Ness in smash, which led me to believe for the longest time that he was actually older. When I was little I thought to myself "Ness is 13? Then Lucas must be 16 or something" based on their smash voices alone and by the time I learned that he had no canon age I was already accustomed to that headcanon haha But yeah, just a headcanon that makes the story more believable for me personally, I know I'm in the minority with this one but just wanted to share my side because I like yapping

Looking back at his post-timeskip sprite in Mother 3, he looks kinda older, like 13-14, but his Smash bros appearance has proven otherwise, making him look more like a 9 to 10 year old. Comparing him to Kumatora and Duster, who are (probably) 14/17 and 20/23 respectively, I think he looks more like he's 14, but I'm gonna stick with the average of all these ages and say he's 11 or 12 post-timeskip

There's no confirmation if he's 7 pre-timeskip. That age was specifically for the N64 version, so we do not know if it was retained or not. Other characters' ages and looks were changed, so there's no way to say if the same didn't happen for Lucas or not.
