the majority of the features come from the server side plugin, we only really use datapacks for things it more efficient at like recipes, tool tags for which blocks it breaks fast, etc. All the logic based stuff is done on our spigot/paper plugin.

I'm not really sure why people do this for versions this new. 1.9 and above is completely unrecognizable, I think you're better off just picking 1.6-1.8 and adding some of the better features from later releases (which aren't many, imo).

@@crystalvulpine2314 the versions provided in the launcher have issues like missing audio completely. So you need to use a 3rd party launcher to get it working. Then from there you'll run into more things like needing to download an old version of java, then if you're on a mac you may run into the game having inverted colors. Then even if you get it all working, theres still old bugs with servers like the animals being all glitchy and such. The modern game, especially with all the modenr features removed can run a much larger server much smoother. But a view it as for every step you add to a process, you lose a large chunk of people who can or are willing to do it. And we bring the game to other platforms like Bedrock edition!

Maybe it’s not your thing and that’s ok. Although in the launcher the old versions of the game are buggy and often inaccurate, with no skin support, sounds being wrong and things like that. So it’s a good alternative. Plus there’s bedrock support and this way it’s easier to switch from an old to a new world without having to mess with all of your settings constantly. Just my opinion.

Modern game also means modern mods! A lot of our users play with mods like legacy 4j to get a modern console edition experience with a lively community only possible with how accessible it is to join!

Modern Minecraft is good to recreate old Minecraft. We won't get the old times back, true. But we can create new memories using the old assets/the old way of playing. I don't see who you are to tell someone what version is best. It always lies in the eyes of the beholder what version is peak

you don't understand why people play beta minecraft, it's because it's a lot simpler, no end goal, and others, just a sandbox game where you and your friends can do what you want, compare to modern minecraft where everyone immediately tries to beat the ender dragon and built a shit ton of farms. if you don't like beta minecraft, don't play it! don't shove your opinion down people's throats.
