The reason delve was so hard to assault is that prior to the redistribution of moon goo, most of the technetium available in Eve came from delve. This made whoever owned it an incredible amount of isk and thus the shiniest ships in abundance.

As a retired player who was online during the whole Black Nova boom, the general story leaked by higher ups was that: 1. With the war in a stalemate eith both sides licking their wounds, Haargorth was of the opinion that BoB should go stomp out Goons once and for all. 2. The other directors disagreed with Haargoth. 3. Haargoth got fed up and contacted Goons. Surely there's much more drama that wasn't shared with us but thats the extent of what was shared with us.

The login queue was so bad, I literally had enough time for a 7-eleven run and there was still several hundred folks in front of me. Hearing some LV dude say “don’t warp there, they’ve got lotsa guns” was priceless. It was the “lotsa guns” that amused me.

From what I've heard I would rather prefer the old doomsday. I find it rather ridiculous that a single Titan is able to be killed by a big fleet of subcap ships without the ability to really defend himself. They are just sitting ducks...
