I watch this Mises Institute talk by Naomi Wolf last night. I am woman, and know many other women (all over North America & Europe), who considered ourselves liberal… left leaning. Around the early 2010s we started being jarred out of the echo chamber of the left… with the trans narrative. Naomi Wolf was one of the feminists we saw as a traitor to women & biological reality as she spouted the tired lines like transwomen are women. 2020 was a definitive year as a wave of those stuck in the mirror maze of the left found their way out. I’m happy Naomi was one of those people, and the work she’s done about that genocidal power grab. I’d like to get the book she helped put together regarding fize er thingy. Having said that… I want to know what her current views are about the material reality of the sexes. I hope she sees the absurdity now. Libertarians (and conservatives) have been a welcoming place for us newly politically homeless… I sure wish I had of found Mises’s economic views much much sooner. They are (mostly) salt of the Earth, practical, open, freedom loving, and honourable people… and that my friends is where our commonalities are. The left has turned legitimate civil rights in for become stuck in arguing about thoughts & feelings… and everything that doesn’t fit into their narratives is labeled as offensive… which they say it literal violence. Civility is dead on the left, even though they think they’re preaching civility. They miswell have the slogan “conform to diversity!” & “good people give up their rights!”. 😒

It's so funny, because for years she was the only feminist that actually seemed very likeable. She was always increadibly hot and never went on to ruin it in a classic feminist fashion (prison style tatoos, body mods, short colored hair etc.) when Ali G trolled her in his interviewed she just laughed it off, when she was proven wrong about the main thesis of her book Outrages, in a live interview, she thanked for the remark with genuine interest and said she was not aware of it. Good to see her finally come out of the leftist bubble.

Fundamentally that is the objective basis, but there is a lot of room for subjectivity too. Even in the animal kingdom if there is a lot of choice due to one sex far outnumbering the other, members of the minority will begin to select mates based on any random trait that helps an individual stand out from the crowd.

Interesting, thanks. I have a similar movement away from the the Democratic Party over the insane laws that turned normal social behavior, for example dating colleagues at work, into dire crimes and turned males into slaves without any legal rights.

It's a move away from the liberal capitalist popular frontism of the Stalinist/Social Democratic era of the 1930's and New Dealism. . It the rise of the real revolutionary Marxism of Lenin and Trotsky that began its reappearance with the death of Stalin and the Cuban revolution of 1959. In 1953 Stalin died. The Rosenbergs were executed. The Korean War ended with an armistice cease fire. And Fidel Castro lead the assault on the Moncada Barracks opening the armed struggle against the dictatorship.

It becomes less surprising when you realize that “liberal” and “leftist” aren’t synonymous. Hard leftists successfully wore the “liberal” mantle for the first 30 years of my life, but by the end of the 1990s it was obvious that the leftists and actual liberals were distinct groups and were rapidly diverging. Now we’ve reached a point where liberals who advocated for gay marriage are being labeled as “far-right,” “conservatives,” and even “fascists.”

It takes some people a long time to grow up. Welcome to adulthood! American conservatism takes much from classical liberalism but adds a belief in righteousness or truth as the primary ethic. If we do not discern the truth, there can be no justice. That's why conservatives argue over different positions, they are far more eclectic than the left, because the truth matters, justice matters. It is not a matter of narrative but discernment.

I am confused because she wasn’t only left but liberal progressist. Also, I’ve learned with her how one can pretend to be someone and the truth be another. What her troop from the left has to say about her or what she did to regret today ? Anyway, love Naomi Wolf because she made a good friend mine to be a double trans. And now, it is so not to be. Since for decades the left promote beauty, skinny bodies, young are Rhodes Scholar maybe she exit the left because she doesn’t fit anymore . She has aged and gained weight a huge sin to attract voters. To be fair, Naomi Wolfe broke out of the Neo-Liberal cult during her reporting and data gathering of the Arab Spring. Her openness to the core concerns of civil libertarianism, even in distant and exotic lands, was absolutely disturbing to the army of trolls at Langley that frequently commented on her social media pages.

I agree and am definitely in favor of some of the changes that have taken place over the past several decades but am not for radical feminism or the bashing of men in general. There are many very good men, appreciate them and all of their giftings and contributions to society and the world, but there are so many jerks and abusers that it’s unthinkable to not have representation for women in government and in the workplace. Families are suffering because men often desire to run the show by brute force and women won’t put up with that anymore.

And Naomi Wolf became a conspiracy theorist who had a book written about her: Doppelganger, by Naomi Klein. Ms. Wolf was found she made a gross mistake in a book she had just published during a BBC interview. She was rebuked, shamed, ridiculed *by right-wingers* mostly, but, as she couldn't get back her academic credentials, she found a new trade. That's why she changed sides.
