I often don’t open up about my mental health in my videos but I want to continue to be honest with what I am going through! Just know that you got this & your feelings are always valid❤️

I get what you’re going through. It honestly makes me feel better to know that I’m not the only one going through this. If we come together and talk about our struggles it might help us improve, I’ve always found it helpful to talk about my problems with the right people and if you can’t find the words you’re looking for sometimes you just need a good shoulder to cry on

Honestly, yeah. I'm a woman with chronic pain, bipolar depression, PTSD so I've been through the wringer. I said that to say this, sometimes it simply goes too far and dark humour is fine if you dish it out to everybody. Did we make mistakes in the past? Most definitely. We still do, but people are trying. Some people have their heart in the right place but still spread negativity. Some people just wanna b*tch.
@camillechan_2 жыл бұрын
As much as I love your shorts, these long form videos definitely are amazing! Thanks for breaking everything down and explaining the whole situation really well. I’m not a huge Lizzo fan, but I do appreciate that she read all of the criticism and put in the effort to rewrite and re-record the song to make sure not to offend anyone.

About lizzo changing words absolutely agree , changing lyrics is the right thing it's not new many artists face that , for example Bts sing in Korean and in Korean the word "neaga" means "I"/"I am" and "niga" means "you" , these words are inevitable in lyrics ," you and I " seem words you find easily in lyrics , and fans brought to their attention how close it sounded to the N word , and for all their US performance especially TV / award performances they replaced skipped the word , it definitely madethe song weird bc some words are part of rap part that goes smoothly and suddenly get cut or replaced with new words you're not used to but it means the artist listen and want people singing comfortably their lyrics , I do believe artist that write themselves their lyrics should seek approval by an expert or something , it will easily fix these issues for lizzo she sings in English it's twice easy to skip sensitive words , but for artist that sing in different languages and are popular world wide they should definitely seek am expert to skip situation were words can sound the same as some sensitive words , I believe this is a next step to making things easy for everyone.

So al the languages should change to soothe Americans? This isn't twitter, go with that nonsense somewhere else lol, if people are SOOOOO triggered by a word in another language that literally has no harmful meaning, stop listening to kpop and listen music only in English... istg this is like when Americans go to other country and DEMAND people to talk to them in English.
@cookycutie2 жыл бұрын
@@mymoonbebe7450 i think you misunderstood , bts had to attend the GRAMMY CEREMONY / MTV award watched by million of people and its actually part of their managers job to see for anything that could harm the band image while doing their promo in us , it was brought to their attention already , bc fans were confused if it was a sensitive word or a korean lyrics, not every listner EXPECIALLY IN LIVE TV PERFORMANCE will understand oh nega is a korean word that means you , many will jump quickly to bad conclusion , to avoid all of that the lyrics been changed for the performance , but still are available in cd and concert ,only for US live Tv it was changed bc the audience is diffrent and the impact is diffrent and ITS NOT ALLOWED TO SWEAR ON LIVE TV SHOW performance especially th grammy and mtv , it just shows that the artist is attentive to fans and audience expectation , there is no harm to that , so yes to answer your question WHEN ITS A BIG OPPORTUNITY like MTV AWARD , grammy award , LIVE american show many artists will make a alot OF changes including american artists themselves , taylor swift in picture to burn , black eyes peas with now the famous "lets get it started" that was originally "lets get retarded" , Michael Jackson they dont care about us , and to add more every award show especially the grammy DONT ALLOW swearing in performance and during ceremony including acceptance speech , its the rule you get cut or banned if you dont follow you can understand that bts or another artist would gladly change the lyrics for a performance to be able to perform for the grammy a big opportunity to attract more contractors and ofc collabs , and my favorite rule is no lipsyncing is allowed so its normal for artist to change lyrics to attens these ceremonies shows , its not american dictating to others its american shows dictatings to ANY PERFORMER AND ATTENDEE from any culture or whatever language they sing with they are not allowed to swear on the ceremony otherwise they get banned / cut .

I think people overreacted honestly. I get that in the UK it has a completely different meaning but Lizzo is from the US and here we use that word in a way like "crazy" or "hyper". She obviously didn't intend it in the offensive way, however I do think it was good she changed the lyric. Anyways, love the video! I always see you on my YT shorts lol

I may have misunderstood some things because English is not my mothertongue. Actually, I think I agree on most of what you said. But I personnally don't thing putting efforts on what you say to not hurt people will ever be a bad thing. Being hurtful is a privilege. Protect the right to say things that may be hurtfull to others is nothing but a priviledged fight. Misbehaving have consequences, with "cancel culture" actually it have bad consequences for the people that are actually misbehaving. I don't think it's a bad thing at all. Of course people make mistakes but as long as they don't act horribly wrong when people tell them (aka J.K. Rowling) people forgive. It's more of a temporary ban and I'm personnally ok with that. If you hurt people, they technically have the right to ignore you and make their ally ignore you. I'm not ok with online bullying though. But not buy the products of or listen to an abuser, a racist, a transphobe etc.? Yes! Totally yes, I don't want to waste my time and money on them! And I don't want them and their toxic ideas to be promoted. Anyway, hope you'll feel free to say anything you have to say in the future, especially when it helps people in the same situation. Lots of love.

I'm from the UK, and this word is on par with the N-word for us, tbh. I'd never say it, it's a horrible slur. However, we also use f*g in reference to cigarettes and no one will bat an eyelid. Words just have different connotations and meanings in our countries, and Lizzo's not at fault for not knowing🤷♀️

Every video or person I’ve seen that’s brought this to her attention has done so in a kind and educational way. People are still allowed to be disappointed she wrote the lyric in the first place. I have mixed feelings. I am disappointed that she wrote the lyric to begin with but proud that she was open to constructive criticism and took it seriously. Didn’t make a big deal out of it and quietly and quickly changed it. I’m very grateful to have someone like her in the world as not a lot of people would do that.
