Wtf with the comments here. Sending people with mental illness to prison same as sending cancer patients to prison. Its inhumane. They need treatment for better life, not PTSD.

Here in the UK, Prisons are just as bad as they are in the US. My brother has schizophrenia and he is currently in prison and he hates it. He says the guards ignore him and he was forced to be in a cell with another person. He even stopped having his medication which only made things worse. Edit: My brother is now out of prison and is doing well.

Wow watching your video just gave me the chills. My son is in prison and he tells me he does not get his medications. 4 out of 7 days they are on lockdown and he is locked in a room all day. He ask to speak to the psychiatrist and it’s been a dead end. He has severe enuresis and he only has 2 outfits. It’s the worst place. He is suffering. His father passed last year. He had PTSD, anxiety, depression, autism spectrum, short memory loss. I feel helpless. He has been there almost 4 months I leave messages to nurse, counselors and have not received a phone call.

I'm bipolar and got arrested and then hospitalized for public disturbance and resisting arrest. I cried really loudly in a walmart and then wouldn't tell the cops I'm name because I'm trans which I also told them. They kept misgendering me and waited for my dad. After that, my dad informed them I was bipolar. That's when I got hospitalized. However it wasn't any better. In the hospital, there's people who moghtve not committed crimes but they're mentally ill so they don't feel like harming you is wrong. I got picked on there and the nurses did nothing. What we really need is a place to send people with mental illness but not a hospital. More like somewhere that's more group focused and less isolation focused. Somewhere that's more regulated and humane. Basically like a group home but with extra steps. I think if there was a group home for minors with mental illnesses to go temporarily and just improve on their problems until they get home instead of trying out medication as an experiment... that would be better. Because medication is a tool. If we work on ourselves more, we can improve. There should be a care facility fore the mentally ill that's not strictly hospitalization.
@missannethrope01
@missannethrope01 5 жыл бұрын
But then people complain that mental hospitals are too institutional and want those that really need help, to be out in the community and be included. It's just a vicious cycle.

Victims don’t care about mental health of criminals. My own family member has a diagnosis and problems such as described here. The most important thing for our family is first to respect the damage done to victims. Next is the treatment and rehabilitation our incarcerated family member requires. If we blame victims and society for our family being in jail, that shows we are not mentally healthy ourselves. Stop blaming others, then we can get appropriate care and a life without crime for those we love.

Lots of these people are lucky to be in jail because crime doesn’t pay. Drug addicts, thieves, murderers, and rapists cannot sustain their lifestyles. They will cross the wrong person and that will be the end for them. If you want them on the street, you are signing a death sentence for them.

Prison has failed so all the murders that are in prison shouldn’t be there. People with drug addictions that are in jail it’s because they have been found with the drug on them so them saying there’re an addict might be ignored because a dealer could say the same thing. Making prisons a nice place makes people want to go back because they’re life isn’t as good outside. In my country our jails has TVs in every room and most prisoners have a phone. They have good quality meals and no council tax. But their outside life isn’t as good so they get themselves put back
