This is the first and last time that Anakin look into Luke's eyes.

Well, from a pure technical standpoint murdering your Emperor is a form of treason, however from a human perspective, Emperor betrayed Vader and not the other way around. I see palpatine as a natural born sith spawn. A human sith spawn can be trained and made to think and act like palpatine. But palpatine had these traits and genetic deviations without alterations. If we didn’t get his backstory, I would think someone gave him these traits intentionally.

you say extremely inflated sense of self-worth, but really is it inflated? he oversaw a confluence of the force, the utter destruction of the Jedi order, a new empire arose under his watch and if you watched the latest episode in the series he could in a very real sense be said to have won as someone with his genes is the most powerful force user in existence and is not a true Jedi so he outlasted all the Skywalkers and his progeny is the future of the force... all in all he pretty much does what it says so on the tin

I personally love this explanation for Palpatine's backstory - you can read the details online, but this really delves into the backstory of the character who was once described by his actor as "more evil than the Devil" and "a character of solid blackness" - you can see how he was pure evil and has truly never felt, as you say. I think this backstory is wholly appropriate for a character like Palpatine who is "evil incarnate," and your explanation of it is excellent - entertaining, doesn't make one want to turn off the video halfway through, really communicates the story and the character's development over his past well. :)

A slight correction Palpatine's father Casinga did want power however Palpatine saw him as unworthy for even that little power that his father did desire. Maybe what you are saying comes from other media, but Palpatine was also goaded by Plagueis in other ways to murder his family, by his sudden arrival on the legislative youth program on Chandrilla, and his embellished story of Plagueis subtly murdering his own family to encourage him. In the book Palpatine certainly was no complete sociopath he had tendencies towards the dark but he wasn't a cold-blooded murder, it took Plagueis to fully unleash his demons to their fullest extent.

What if Palpatine had never been discovered by the Jedi or Sith? Also, on a different note: The Force can do a lot of incredible things, and the Star Wars Universe is full of great technology. But something that always bothered me is how missing limbs are handled. When Luke loses his hand to Vader, it makes some sense that he only gets a robot hand, given that the rebels would either need the technology to clone him a new one, or risk going somewhere where Luke may be discovered by the Empire during the process. It gets a lot weirder with Anakin though. He loses an entire arm, yet there doesn't appear to be a way to regrow limbs through the force. Not only that, but there is literally cloning technology being used for their army, yet it isn't used for this. I know it was considered giving Vader cloned limbs after Mustafar, but that the Dark Side degrades cloned flesh very quickly, but this wouldn't apply to a light side user, would it?

young palpatine looks like james franco
@matthewpinon85156 жыл бұрын
Joanna Gallardo Now that you say that, I think James Franco would be a pretty good young Palpatine if a Palpatine origins movie were made. It sounds like a great idea for an R-rated Star Wars film.

Killing one's father (or not) seems to be a running theme. Luke chose not to kill his father while Ben Solo did.

In the next 10 -15 years. I hope Disney makes Star Wars Stand-Alone Films on the following characters - Darth Bane, Darth Plagueis, & Darth Maul leading into Episode I - The Phantom Menace.

So according to Star Wars mytholgy when the emperor died, he should return as a Palpatine force ghost. Not the emperor reborn. Right JJ?

can u do a clip on how vader became a force ghost after killing the emperor so quicklu after it supposedly took obiwan years of training?
@johnmurrhee17397 жыл бұрын
Austral he lost about 20% of his potential power after becoming Darth Vader and getting owned by obi wan
@sryan95477 жыл бұрын
No he didn't lose any of his force power. the size of your body doesn't matter, otherwise Yoda would have been nothing. If anything being mutilated would have made him more powerful.
@johnmurrhee17397 жыл бұрын
Irishman yes he did. It is canon that he lost potential. it's part of the reason that Palpatine made him use inferior armor and cybernetics. it has nothing to do with size.
@TheOneTheyCallEemeen7 жыл бұрын
No, Palpatine put inferior armor and life support on Vader in order to keep him in a constantly weak state. The ability was always there, he was just kept in a weak condition that made it difficult to release that power. To say Vader lost 20% of his potential power, would be to say that even if he did get high quality armor and life support, he somehow magically lost part of his genetically natural potential to use the force permanently, which doesn't make any sense. Losing limbs doesn't change your genetic makeup or in the case of star wars, your mitichlorian count.
@johnmurrhee17397 жыл бұрын
TheOneTheyCallEemeen that was also a reason, along with him being pissed about the loss of potential. you guys really need to read the books that are still canon.

At first, i found that intresting, but then the movie ends and i knew that Palpatine was trash and Rey now calls herself a Skywalker. Disney has so many cheap tricks in TROS. Like having Leia be alive for money but then finding out that they didn't have enough footage of Carrie Fisher and they could save money by not using cgi and rather killing her so people think this movie is great just because they cry. The same with C3PO. Killing him off in a emotional scene to make people think this is a great film but then also thinking this needs a happy ending so let's ressurect him. Disney makes people feel things by playing with Original Trilogy Nostalgia like having a Han Solo Cameo, A Luke Skywalker cameo and ending with The Force Theme. At first i very liked the way they used the force theme and i thougt about the first time i watched TFA As a kid and how fun it was for me to watch the original trilogy after that and my nostalgia but the more i thougt about, the more i realized that i kinda knew this would happen because The Force Theme wasn't used before the final fight and that it was kinda manipulative. They also fake-killed Chewbacca but guess what, my man wasn't dead for real. I cried, but that doesn't mean this movie was good. I didn't know that J.J Abrams was capable of creating a very bad movie, i thougt the worst he could make was a 6/10 movie, guess i was wrong, cause this shit's lazy. 3/10.

Anyone saying the "Sith are cooler", you clearly haven't read or parsed complete canon. The legacy of the Sith is a quest for power through murder and deception. They are quite literally a fascist order, whereas the Jedi are much more diverse than people ever give credit - there are more radical Jedi (some apart from the order) and they also despise the Sith ideology. Perhaps, some of you like the Sith way because it is easier. It is easy to rise to anger, and be blinded by hate, and to be selfish instead caring for others. (Think of the biblical story of the two paths)

What ever happened to Barris Offie from The Clone Wars? She was last seen being arrested, but then episode III occurred, did she die like the rest of the Jedi? If there is a canon source at all.
