Its fruit are very nutritious, their oil has a multitude of uses, and if all else fails, you can harvest the wood to use as building material or as firewood. The thing that’s interesting about pandora is that she was built to open the box. When making her, the gods purposefully gave QUITE A BIT of curiosity, enough so it was pretty impossible for her to not open the box they sent with her. Although it was her who opened the box, Zeus is pretty much the only one to blame when it comes down to it, not Pandora. (I’m sorry, I love to ramble about Greek mythology) Great video!

I remember I took this book to school and teacher was horrified that such a young student liked history and mythology over playing football or going outside during recess, I got detention and even phones my parents (who likely my Mom stand by my side and defend me against those teachers, as SHE was the one who bought me the book because I asked for it when I saw it on a children book store)

If I remember correctly in one of the versions yes Pandora unleashed all these things but she also unleashed hope, which was the last thing to leave the box. I thought that version was neat and wanted to share it with others
@OptimusPhillip Жыл бұрын
In the version I heard growing up, Pandora actually closed the box before hope could escape. And looking into the ancient sources, that version seems to come straight from Hesiod. What exactly he meant by this is up for interpretation. The interpretation I grew up with basically says that leaving hope in the box made it available to people during times of need. But it could also be that the "hope" in Pandora's box actually represents _false_ hope, and thus another evil that is best left sealed away. In short, mythology is vague and confusing.

huh, never heard of the third version of humans. Only version I heard was Prometheus and his brother made them out of clay/mud, both men and women. Like it was his brother's job to design all the creatures in the world and give them skills. By the time they got to humans, they ran out of skills and stuff to give (like claws, wings, etc). So they made humans in the images of the Gods as a "ok well here" sort of thing. Prometheus giving fire to humans was one of the last things that happened which caused Zeus to finally snap imprison him. But that's what I love about Greek Mythology. There are so many versions of these tales. I love learning new versions that I haven't heard of before. Now retaining that information is different, lmao

Just want to make it clear, as a Jew, that nobody actually calls our G-d "Yahweh". We basically just use the Hebrew word for "my lord", or the Hebrew word for "our G-d", or sometimes just "the holy one" or even "the name". Yes, it is spelled "Yahweh", but nobody has used that for so long that we've actually forgotten whether "Yahweh" is the right pronunciation or not. Some people say it is. Others say it's "Jehovah". It doesn't matter in the end, because we aren't supposed to say it out loud anyway. I enjoyed the rest of the video, though!
@marvinwolf83602 жыл бұрын
Wasn't Jehova just a misunderstanding because people wrote down the yhw part for the real name and above the eoa to hint at the fact that you're supposed to read it out loud as 'lord'? Also, I think he just used it because just writing god or lord or whatever above it doesn't really tell you from which religion he is. He could have written something like Jewish god but it kinda comes of as a bit weird to write names for everyone else except him. So it's less about what he's actually called and more about destinction, like you might call your grandma grandma at home but everyone else is just gonna use her name
