hello jimothy. to answer your question about the purpose of the parkour noobs in society, i believe they exist to act as a driving force or a deterrent to the parkour pros, who are the labour class of parkour civilisation. you don't want to rank down and become a parkour noob subsiding on raw chicken each day, so you must maintain your role as a parkour pro providing free labour for the whole parkour civilisation.

I started watching Evbo a bit before he started getting popular. I was scavenging for Minecraft content and I knew of Seawatt and Grox but they hardly post and then came across JoofyLooby, then Joofy had a lot of Evbo cameos, then that’s how I finally came across Evbo and his channel. I will say I think everyone in the group took inspiration from Joofy because his content changed a little, in terms of content and storytelling. Then, Evbo came out with his hit series “Parkour Civilization.” However, Evbo transformed the dying concept of “Civilization” series, which once came from an SMP or simulation typa thing, to the classic role play series which was once dying. Soon after “Joll and Conk” took both TikTok and KZbin by storm, starting separate from the group which Joofy and Evbo come from, took the Civilization to another level, and now, he (the creator) has his own fully fleshed out lore all connecting to each other. My three favorite Minecraft KZbinrs. I’m a fan of Bionic and Skiddzie, but their content can be redundant or they don’t do enough content with their friends, which imo makes it most interesting.

I really do like how much minecraft content has reformed in general. I would for sure say the OGs who still make roleplay content like Aphmau, LDShadowLady, and SmallishBeans...a whole bunch more who still make content to this day, they, they started it all but it's hard for newer audiences to get into their content because people who watch them are actual children (it's their intended audience) or watch them for a nostalgia factor. It's like watching a rated G show. These new gen roleplay mc youtubers feel easier to watch and get into for a broader audience. Like they are more PG and relatable.

My opinion of how the Generation 1 OU cast would do the challenge- Tauros: Jumps for the beef and succeeds. (obviously) Snorlax: Jumps for the beef and falls. Chansey: Jumps for the chicken and succeeds. Starmie: Skillfully jumps for both and Paralyzes the guy to escape. Exeggutor: Puts the guy to sleep before jumping for the chicken and falling. Alakazam: Teleports up to the Parkour Master level negating all the challenges. Zapdos: Flies up to the Parkour Master level with Alakazam and they have tea time together. Rhydon: Use Rockslide to place cobblestone blocks to get to the beef and then Earthquake’s the guy into the void. Gengar: Uses Hypnosis to put the guy to sleep, takes both of the meat, then goes away to the top level to probably go explode. Jynx: Puts the guy to sleep with Lovely Kiss and jumps into the void with them. Cloyster: uses clamp to chip at the wooden block before jumping for the beef and falling. Jolteon: Decides Pin Missile is good for the situation and eventually breaks the wooden block and takes the beef. Slowbro: Uses Amnesia to max out its special stat, forgetting why he’s here as he washes away the Noob level. Victreebel: Uses swords dance three times before Hyper Beaming the guy into the void and shoving both pieces of meat in its mouth. Uh if this gets ten likes I will do the UUBL mons?

"hey can anyone tell me what minecraft would be like if server life were based around parkour?" Evbo: "you are absolutely right it is now my life mission to dismantle the social hierarchy"
@megcanbyАй бұрын
But at no point in the video is the social hierarchy dismantled. After Evbo becomes parkour champion, the strict caste system remains in place, it’s just now possible to move to a higher caste. He hasn’t removed oppression, he’s just made it so that a member of the oppressed class, if they succeed within the meritocratic ideals of the system, can become an oppressor. Also, the only thing the Parkour Champion ever actually did was make it impossible to rank up (and also the weird brainwashing plot line that goes absolutely nowhere). He wasn’t the first parkour champion, which means he didn’t make society revolve around parkour, it was like that long before he came to power, and since the video positions him as the source of the social rot present within Parkour Civilization, this means that the only actual thing being criticized is the Parkour Champion placing artificial barriers that prevent the meritocratic system from properly sorting people. Within the framework of the story, the overall social structure is fine and the social hierarchy is justified (as evidenced by the fact that, by and large, the higher ranking members of society are better at parkour, which, if this is trying to critique capitalism, is the same as making every member of the working class lazy idiots). The only problem, in the eyes of the narrative, is that there was someone corrupt in charge. Their society values parkour, and the higher ranking members are genuinely better at it. This one fact obliterates any potential anticapitalist messaging the story could’ve had.

SPOILERS FOR PARKOUR CIV 1 & 2 It’s implied that ranking up was possible before the champion that evbo beat came to power. In PC2 Seawatt says that he ranked up and his parents were to stubborn to rank down during the old man’s championship. Imo the outside of lore reasons for the impossible rank up courses is noobs are intentionally held back and stuck in a “poverty cycle” and the pros have the skill but not the knowledge. Kind of similar to the socio-economic castes irl.

@2coeur2 ай бұрын
7:28 if i had to guess, i'd say the existence of the parkour noobs helps maintain the rest of the heirarchy. a lot of the parkour pros' work involves dealing with the noobs in some way - feeding them, helping them buy houses, creating obstacle courses, etc. without the parkour noobs, the parkour pros would be at the bottom and have nothing to do. by interacting with the noobs, the pros would have no reason to resist the heirarchy. sure, they have all these bullshit jobs, but things could be worse - they're not a parkour noob, after all. and they're aware that they could be, should they mess up - and thus the order of parkour civilisation is maintained. they exist as a warning to the other classes, while also providing said other classes with something to do. moreover, nobody is aware of how they got into their place in the social heirarchy - a single test at the very beginning of their lives. to them, their rank is inherent, something that they were born with. the obstacle course gives a mirage that, should they work hard enough, they can rise in the heirarchy. however, try as they might, they aren't able to. with that they will have the idea that this is how things are meant to be - i'm a parkour pro because i'm not good enough to complete that course like the masters, but i'm also better than the noobs. i deserve my station. everything and everyone exist in relation to one another. the impossibility of the rank-up courses is believed to be a personal failing on their part, not something structural within the course. i doubt it's intentional but it does mirror real-life class structures somewhat. people at the bottom are told to believe that they belong where they are, and if they simply "work hard enough", they can rise above their status of working-class. that they can become rich, if they only put the effort in. but the truth is most, if not all, of the elite are where they are due to birth circumstances - being born to the right family, in the right country, and so forth. pure happenstance. the middle-class similarly have no desire to question the heirarchy - at least they're not working class, after all. the lower classes are set to work for the rest of their lives chasing an impossible dream, while the undeserving elite reap off the spoils.
@megcanbyАй бұрын
But the higher levels of parkour civilization are, by and large, better at parkour. The narrative takes no real issue with the caste system, as evidenced by the fact the Evbo maintains it when he comes to power, but instead takes issue with a corrupt leader who has artificially prevented the meritocratic system into sorting people where they rightly belong, a belief that relies on the assumption that people have varying levels of inherent merit. If the story is trying to be anticapitalist, it has failed horribly, because it has basically said that the working class are, for the most part, less worthy than their social betters. Also, that’s not really a reason for the parkour noobs to exist. Sure, they could motivate the parkour pros to keep feeding into the system, but so could, you know, the need to eat? The threat of death keeps the parkour noobs in line fine, why wouldn’t it work on the pros? Instead, a system exists where the lowest class is kept around for no real reason, and the middle class are exploited for their labor, but the upper class don’t benefit from that labor, the only ones who do are the lower class. The fact that the parkour pros have actual jobs completely destroys the metaphor.
@megcanbyАй бұрын
To add on to my first paragraph, the whole “nobody jumps for the beef” line is also a massive problem for this being at all an accurate representation of capitalist society. Since jumping for the beef is required to be able to have enough hunger to actually be able to rank up, that places at least some of the onus for the parkour noobs not ranking up on them not being ambitious enough to go for the beef, which is exactly what pro-capitalist people say about the lower class irl. Yes, the rank up test is impossible, but even if it were possible, most noobs would never rank up due to their own personal failings.
