Sad you didn't mention Tour organisers apolosing and admitting they were wrong about disqualifying him. It looked like Demare had a chance to win, so they used Cavendish's fall as a excuse to get rid of Sagan. But karma worked, and Sagan now has 7 green jerseys, and Demare didn't even finish the race that year.

It's almost always like that. The truly best people are the ones who hate what they are doing. NASCAR's Dale Earnhardt is another good example (he loved racing but hated the cars he raced, yet he was the best at racing them). Were I to watch more sports I probably could've found more examples.

I really wish they would have a tour route that favors guys like Sagan. He was so fun to watch in his prime and riders like him deserve that chance. I'd say Sagan and Alaphilipe are my two favorite riders of all time. Wout van Aert is also very good and really entertaining when he is on form. These guys are the best all around ridersin the world and sadly they are overshadowed by riders that only show up for a few stages in the Grand Tours to eventually win it. Yes the one day classics are a better representation of these guys but the UCI overwhelmingly push the Grand Tours to represent cycling as a whole.

THE GREAT GREAT PETER SAGAN. WHAT A GREAT CYCLIST THIS MAN WAS .. BIG RESPECT TO PETER.....
@jankrnac35354 ай бұрын
Sagan was what we called sprinter. Sprinters are great on flat terrain but bad at mountains, that is why he was able to win 3 times at world shampionship but never won Tour De France and also had problems at his home race Czech & Slovakia cup. Also did not won Olympionic terain race because managed to destroy rubber on the wheel 3 times. Even he was several times first. Even he tried improve his mountain skills at Tatras, he quickly found out that for hills he need to get off weight what would demage his sprinter skills. So he is legend but because of this never actually get that ultimate won at Tour de France.
