For the pikachu fact, it might be that the knockback for the hits during Pikachu’s final smash is very high to allow it to connect with eachother. The smart bomb might be dealing just enough angled knockback to knock Mario out of it, and send him flying.

I do believe this is a case of values being added on top of each other. for an example let's say you move 25 pixels a second by the smart bomb then pikachu does a 30 pixels per second knockback then now you move 55 pixels per second in total. alongside the time slowdown possibly adding this effect to even greater then before is a great explanation and is also the reason of a lot of movement techs in other games.

I think transforming for Pyra/Mythra and Pokemon trainer puts them in midair briefly, therefore they land right as the animation ends as if they're jumping

I remember that Pikachu Final Smash glitch happening when the game was released, but without the smart bomb. It would just happen sometimes. I figured it had gotten patched out, but it looks like people figured out how to make it happen again.

I've seen people die early from Pikachu's final smash lots of times. Its often for me to where it happened over multiple patches and I just thought it was blast zone thing. Edit: I remember a few months ago I was playing with my brother and that happened, and he was like "what?!" Then I said, "yep that happens".

It looks like the knockback of the bomb knocks the recipient out of the final smash, so they get pushed by the final smash "external" hitbox, which then chases them to the blast zone

I was thinking just that; many multi-hit moves in the Smash series have some hits have ridiculous amounts of knockback (see the Roy reverse up-b on Puff in Melee, or the with-rage reverse up-b on Peach in Smash 4), and hitting someone out of multi-hit moves could do the trick.

This is just a guess, but the Pikachu early kill may involve how final smash handles knockback, with a touch of zoom issues. The smart bomb impact may interrupt the sequence or whatever state the fighters are put into, letting knockback take full effect. Alternatively, both the knockback form the bomb and smash may apply at once, resulting in a weird stacked effect. Sorry, but isn't Pyra's switch more or less a jump? It could be a weight switch, but the animation..

I actually know why the switching thing happens! When they swap characters, they actually despawn the previous model and spawn the new one. When doing so, from a design perspective, you always want to drop them in at least a few pixels above where the previous model was, then let them fall to the stage. Otherwise, you might have weird clipping issues with the terrain, especially on slopes. So what's happening is that the new model is being spawned in just slightly above the stage, and they land on it as if it were a "jump".

This also is just in the animation. Pythra does a small leap & twirl as they swap and touch back down. The Pokemon get lifted as they are withdrawn then the next PokeBall is thrown out onto the stage where the new Pokemon spawns slightly above it as it pops open

Fun fact: Kazuya's full 10-hit jab combo counts as exactly *_4_* separate moves with regards to move staling. The first, second, third, and fourth hits all stale completely independently of one another, with the rest of the combo counting together with the fourth hit. (Also, the last hit of the Flash Punch Combo, the one that ends with the stronger third hit, stales together with the third hit of the regular combo.)

I think what’s happening with Pikachu’s final smash is the same thing as Samus’s up B that one time, the initial hit tends to have WAY more knock back than the finisher to guarantee the opponent is brought into the rest of the move. The Smartbomb was enough to adjust the knock back since stacking attacks can do that and, assuming Pikachu’s follow up doesn’t connect, the opponent is launched away and dies immediately.

My guess with smart bomb and pikachu's glitch: one of my guesses is that smart bomb has insane knockback which is never seen due to the stun lock it causes during it's explosion, Pikachu's smash breaks them out BUT does not force them into a specific spot (like other cinematic smashes do), instead just attempts to follow the target, which is far fetched. Another idea is that the smash tries to follow them after being pushed by the bomb and keeps pushing them along as they travel with set knockback (instead of just locking them into place like the smash usually does), making them go even faster The simple fact that every frame that the smash attempts to keep juggling the target, the same target is being moved causes the smash to be unable to keep them in place

My theory for the Pikachu early kill is: Pikachu's Final Smash is supposed to stop the opponent from moving, but it's more like it 'sets their speed to 0' and 'stops their momentum from changing', and some explosions set their speed to a high value without allowing their speed to change, putting the opponent in a permanent high speed state, until the last hit (or a later hit?) of Pikachu's Final Smash places them back at the starting point.

I have 2 hypothesis about pikachu's final smash. 1)The bomb makes Mario get hit by the knockback of a multihit move (Like it sometimes happens with lucas up b) but gives it hit lag so it doesn't get the effect that scoops you back into the blender 2)The final smash slows down time for dramatic show, which messes with the knockback for some reason (that can be tested) It can also be a mixture of the 2

I have one funny fact, but it's not really related to the game itself, but to a trailer. In the Byleth trailer shown during the Sakurai presentation the video ends with "super smash bros ultimate X fire emblem three houses", and then cuts to Sakurai. But the trailer uploaded on KZbin, on the official smash channel, after the smash X FE has a bonus clip of Byleth crouching in front of three pikmins (blue, red and yellow)

probably what's happening is knockback is being interrupted by forced electric hitstun, so the player keeps their extreme momentum at the beginning of knockback. and they don't properly lose it at the rate they should if they were being launched.

Fun Fact: If you use Kirby’s copy ability on a mii, Kirby will use the default neutral b even if the mii doesn’t have that specific neutral b. [for example, if a mii gunner has grenade launch as their neutral b Kirby will do charge blast instead when he copies the mii] (BTW the default neutral specials are, shot put for brawler, gale strike for swordfighter, and charge blast for gunner)

Here's my theory. I think the multihit attacks have a "default" knockback that get cancelled if the attacks continue. If not, that knockback applies. The knockback isn't only a distance but a Bézier curve: where it's going and at what speed. (Or else it would be as instant as a teleport) When Pikachu/Pichu catches someone with a Final Smash, they follow a "dot" that is a registered position of the opponent. (Normally not moving) However, with the knockback of the multihit, that dot moves. So Pikachu/Pichu follows that dot and chases the opponent, that still pushes them forward and forward until they hit the blast zone

I think I have an explanation for the Pikachu smart bomb thing Normally fighters are locked in place during Pikachu's final smash. The smart bomb could be allowing them to move. Since Pikachu is following them, he could be dealing so much knockback that he is essentially carrying them to the blast zone.

I don't think it's because of knockback, but because of the hitstun properties of explosions. The important thing is that in the times where Mario isn't being KOed, they're always brought back. As though they were stuck to Pikachu.

My only guess as to how that glitch works is that something about volt tackle's programming causes it to push mario off the stage. I don't think mario is affected by an extreme knockback, I think mario is being pushed outside the intended area and pikachu's homing AI tries to chase after him, resulting in mario getting gradually pushed to the blast zone. This could also explain why it didn't always work, as mario could have been pushed into a trajectory where pikachu's final smash wouldn't push him all the way off the stage.

the pikachu final smash thing reminds me of a thing in the previous patch of ssf2, where sora side b would send opponents in random directions, sometimes killing dk at 10 for absolutely no reason, just because they fucked up and made the hitboxes have stacked knockback instead of each hit overwriting the last one, i was really jank im glad they fixed it in the new update. idk if thats the same case hapening here, since its a diferent game with a diferent engine, but it looked really similar.

For the record, if nobody else has said it yet: Knockback stacks in smash if you hit things correctly, and knockback angles seem to average. Remember the technique in Smash 4 where you could use Robin's dair on an opponent trapped in Arcthunder and they'd go sideways? The Pikachu insta-KO is just a stronger version of that. I don't know the exact details, but it's actually pretty common as long as you combine a multi-hit and a strong regular move. Combined knockback angles

As far as the game is concerned, switching moves like Pyra/Mythra and Pokemon trainer likely removes the current character and then places the next one in the same spot. But for the purposes of the lighting rig it's basically the same as it cares about things making contact with it, regardless of whether it's a character landing or being placed there

I just tried jumping on the lights in boxing ring as shulk. I have found out that while Monado shield doesn't change the amount of jumps it takes for him (13), using a metal box does. It goes down to 3 jumps.

To me, the Pikachu Final Smash thing looks very similar to the way Roy could one-hit-KO Jigglypuff in Melee with his Up-B. That happened because one of the first hitboxes on the move had an insanely high set knockback value because it was intended to lead into the follow-up hitboxes. But if something caused the opponent to not get hit by those follow-ups, the first one would just kill. I think the Smart Bomb is probably doing the same thing here with the hitboxes for Pikachu's Final Smash.

Maybe Pikachus final smash puta the enemy in a special state supposed to not let them move from that spot but if a hit with right properties, timing or strength hits them the get out of place. And after getting displaced the state tries to get them back to the original spot but moves them away insted on accident until the final atack that allways sets them back to the position.

fact/glitch/whatever you call it When you use Kazuya's rage drive on the top of the palutena temple (where the little ship decends), on the platform that you can use to go down into the underground dungeon or whatever you call it, you'll go straight through the platform instead of landing on it
