The live show for Pink Floyd’s The Wall was the one most ambitious and elaborate tours ever conceived, but with only 31 shows and refusing to play in stadiums, Pink Floyd lost money on each and every performance. On today’s episode, we continue our look into the making of The Wall, with part two, the making of the tour. #musichistory #PinkFloyd #vinyl

This is really well done. The presenter is nearly perfect in his presentation .. not getting too "fan excited" but yet conveying peaks of the story. His look is excellent with outstanding hair and attire. The set is very well lit and thought out. The voice cadence for a long format presentation is done very, very well and never becomes boring .. nor tiring. A perfect blend. The audio quality is excellent. I truly have nothing negative to say about the style and personality of how you are presenting these videos to the public. That may be a first for KZbin. I'm really, truly impressed and you should pursue this with great vigor and not let go. You're doin' damn good, son. This is the best I've seen on this website. Truly outstanding.

@@VinylRewind You're very welcome. It's well deserved. Everyone has opinions of what to do next for the series but I have an interesting thought for you: Genesis. There is an era that is not talked about and you have a real chance to educate the public and provide compelling content. When Genesis started to become the Genesis most people know .. the very first album with Phil Collins as lead singer. The trauma of Peter Gabriel leaving, they were just going to do movie soundtracks for a while, they tried out 50 singers and people kind of assumed that was it for Genesis. Steve Hackett still had two more albums with the band. It's a very interesting time. Especially when you take a look at the sales of that album compared to previous Genesis albums .. it was a big hit. Moreso in Great Britain. The album is called "Trick of the Tail" and came in 1976. Later that same year was the swan song of that era of Genesis with the fabulous "Wind & Wuthering". These were two albums that I would put up against anybody .. any time .. any era. This took rock music to levels that no band really had .. before or since. It was an incredible blend of the pop era Genesis and the prog era. No band ever danced that fine line so well as this well hidden time in the history of the behemoth Genesis.

I was very excited when this series began, as I was going to attend a tribute band concert for The Wall featuring outfits, props and projection. Watching up to this point not only got me excited for the performance but also helped me learn more fun facts about the original production and see how it would be adapted in my area. The Wall is my favorite album of all time, and the performance tonight was incredible, albeit could’ve been improved. But this video series and the album review made this occasion all the more memorable for me. Thank you for your research and delivery about The Wall. I look forward to Part 3 soon to give this some excellent closure.

This was amazing, thank you so much! I count myself lucky to have at the least gone to one of the Waters shows in 2010, which was by far the most incredible performance I've ever seen, but to learn more about the level of stage design and prep it took for the original tour is beyond imaginable. However much those guys made to put it all together isn't enough.

Great three-part series. I was at the opening night in LA, and one of the things that happened was some fireworks they shot off landed on a curtain in the rafters and they had to stop the show, lower the curtain and have guys with fire extinguishers put it out. They opted not to have fireworks at the remaining LA shows.

In those days in the NYC area, upcoming concerts would be announced in the Sunday NY times entertainment section and I remember opening the Sunday Times In early Dec. 1979 and seeing this full page ad for Pink Floyd’s upcoming 6 shows at Nassau Coliseum and tickets going on sale at Ticketron the very day on Monday morning. I remember it was a really cool Scarfe drawing of his ‘Pink’ character screaming and to this day, I wish i had kept a copy of it to frame. Bring only 13 but already a diehard Floyd fan, I begged and pleaded with my mom to let me stay out overnight on a school night (and upfront me something like $80-100 for 4 tickets) but not surprisingly, she laughed at me and said ‘Are you out of your mind?’ Being I wouldn’t let my 13 year old go to the mall alone, I grudgingly forgive her :-)

Teddy Furstman anyone but not them, they will just squeeze the typical ‘94 tour versions of songs into “The Wall” like they always do. To recreate the tour you need to research about equipment and effects they used, find the animations, make puppets and bricks and most of all - listen to all the bootlegs of concerts, to listen to an every concert in detail, to hear every sound and particular way to play each song. And they shall listen to ITAIOT and consider this enough despite of a lot cut material in it. So it is difficult and requires a deep devotion.

Teddy Furstman I disagree. 2010-2013 The Wall tour was much different from the original album and tour. It has concentrated not on the personal wall but the globalised idea of militarism and pacifism, I am no saying that this is bad, but this is far from the original idea.

I got to see this show at Earl's Court circa 1981,,,I wasn't really a Pink Floyd fan, I'd heard their radio played music like everyone else but beyond that I hadn't really paid attention to them. I got to go because someone had to forfeit a ticket in our group so I went. I was fairly inebriated at the time but it still stands as an amazing experience. Interestingly, the film footage has since surfaced and when I watch it I realize how perception is different than reality. I remember it being a HUGE and Mind Blowing thing, watching the film it's like, "Meh." I still do love their music, I have their albums in my collection.

My wife and I saw The Wall twice at Earl’s Court, London. We were members of Harvey Goldsmith’s Rock Club and had premium seating for many great concerts. BTW IMHO - best concert I ever saw was Pro’s & Con’s.

Well done, you should do the Roger Waters remake from 2009-2014, the tour. New n improved art. And successful conversion to a stadium medium without losing any of the original message

Great video! One quibble, though: I don't think I'd call the LA Sports Arena, Nassau Coliseum, Earl's Court and Westfalenhalle "small" venues. They're not stadiums, but they hold 20k people. That's pretty big.

Scott Plumer Well, small in comparison to the Animals tour, where they played football stadiums of 40k+

I saw the first show on Feb 7. I am surprised not mention of catching the stage on fire.

yeah I know, when making these videos I want to keep the pace up and I would've mentioned it if more happened, but it was quickly extinguished
