Hi papa Pax, to add lang ako about dun sa part ng video where you talked about aiming for -14 LUFS, we can use limiters in our DAW (Reaper user here as well) to push our sound to at least say, -10 LUFS. Yes, the platforms will turn it down (digitally) to around -14 LUFS, pero pushing the signal a bit would still give the listener that perception that the sound is louder. Also, slapping a limiter not only make the track louder, ligtas ka pa nya sa digital clippings if bigla sumipa ung signal hehe. Just an unsolicited two cents tho. Great video as always!

Totoo yang sinabi mo, Pax. As a bass player, ginawa kong best practice to have two stems tracked para may raw DI tone and merong isang kargado ng plugins to have my actual desired tone. It enables the engineer to have the option to choose my tone or shape the raw DI track as he/she sees fit.

I don’t use a splitter at all. Literal na dalawang armed stems pero yung isa walang plugins and yung isa NDSP Darkglass lang with a compressor. Haha

About sa gain (volume) ng audio interface, much better na set mo ito sa ZERO. Tapos sa amp sim plugin mo kunin yung volume. Outdated na yung advice na "set mo yung gain sa audio interface hanggang sa point na mag clip (color red) tapos bawasan mo ng konti". Kapag ganyan ang ginawa mo, most of the time pag pinakinggan mo yung tunog ng amp sim paran tunog lata. Kaya mas magandang ZERO ang volume sa audio interface. Less noise din. Kung hindi kapa satisfied sa tonal quality, pwede mo taasan ng 1 to 3 db yung gain sa audio interface. Even NeuralDSP binago na yung recommendation nila about this. Also, if you get Focusrite or UAD Volt, meron libreng Ableton Lite.

I'm using the same Audio Interface and DAW to record din po, Audient ID14 MK II and Reaper. Ganda nga po ng output kapag nagrerecord. Very convenient and flexible nga po sya. Nga lang, mejo different yung feel nya po habang tumutugtog compared dun sa may actual na pedal amp sim😅

We live in such amazing times para sa music technology. A lot of these technological advancements can be achieved for nearly free (like Neural Amp Modeler), and the differences between those and a professionally-recorded full-blown rig are negligible in the final result. I mean, we all love the prospects of recording a real tube amp but not a lot of us have the luxury to do so.

Use to do amps and micing up kaso sobrang hirap especially if nasa bahay lang tas sobrang inconsistent, opted for plugins best thing I ever experienced at dun ako natuto mag mix ang ayaw ko lang is iba yung feel tsaka may slight latency pag vst plugin at yung noise floor (in my experience) now Im using AXE FX-II digital modeller even better para lang ako naka amp pero direct to pc.

Sir pax baka applicable din s plugin na to ang kumakalat na proper setting ng interface input level which most of us are doing wrong. Well, if it sounds good then it sounds good when it comes to setting ng input levels but it is recommended for most amp sims na nasa minimum level yung input gain sa interface (zero for most interfaces). And since I started doing it, mas madale n kalikutin yung amp sim at madali ko nakukuha ung tone n gusto ko. Dati kasi ganyan din ginagawa ko na sa input gain knob sa interface ako ng aadjust pero someone did a research about this input level issues, kudos to Ed for doing this deep research. Just sharing for the awareness of everyone. There’s a lot of videos now that talks about it kasi this has been an issue of many and it seems like madami ang di aware dito.
