How Pokemon Exposes Nintendo's Biggest Modern Issue

Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the latest new era Nintendo Switch games that fill time with online and multiplayer content. Nintendo seems to always have an issue with online and these games are no stranger to that, but also slowly compounding to expose a growing problem. Hopefully I don't sound too hateful here, but this subject has been on my mind for a while so let me know what you think!

So close to greatness but shot down by the limited features of Nintendo Online. I think they did a great job at introducing new mechanics and the Tera gimmick, but definitely needs to be improved and adjust the connectivity in raids specifically. Drew Online would NEVER let this happen.

Something that I thought of that I think would solve a lot of the problems with modern Pokemon games would be to bring back Battle Revolution styled games. A game focused entirely on competitive battles and hold all (or at least most of) the official tournaments on that. No campaign (or at least a bare bones one), focus entirely on the battling mechanics and presentation (please bring back the old 3D Pokemon animations please Nintendo, they were so good), bring back discontinued items, moves, mechanics (Mega Evolution my beloved), and make sure every single Pokemon can be used. Of course trainer customization has to be a thing, give us that drip Nintendo! It's probably a stretch thinking Nintendo would ever do something like that, but we can always dream.

9 months later and the biggest update we got was an even worse optimized DLC with no added post-game content. It's so disappointing, the patches that did happen only fixed a couple super specific battle issues and no significant stability or optimization issues.

It's robbery to be charged for the horrible Nintendo Switch Online for online connectivity and get charged for the Pokemon Bank as well. That's double dipping on a product that never worked.

I wish they didn't kick dirt on ya for downing the 5-10 and so on time to respwan SUCKS but then theres the time eatting meaning you must play strong pokemon or else the team will suffer even if they are great stat and build wise

Re: Nintendo games having bad online: there is a simple reason for it. They are most likely testing using online against others in Japan, not testing to see how well it works in other countries with different quality network infrastructure. This is a common issue with Japanese-made games - the fighting game community has been dealing with this for many years, and it really took the pandemic to show many Japanese devs the full scope of the problem. (It also didn't help that the overall best solution for the FGC wasn't invented in Japan, sadly making it harder to be accepted by Japanese devs, until sales of games with improved netcode did amazing numbers. 😢)

My biggest complaint with modern pokémon games is that now they're charging for DLC when with the releasing should have came with the base game. So now instead of paying 60 bucks for a game I'm paying upwards of $80 for a full game

Completely agree with 5:00 . Pokémon peaked in gen 3. 4 and 5 were fun but 3 was Pokémon at its best when compared to the rest of the gaming world at the same time

I'd have to personally say gen 5 was peak and the switch to 3D is when it went all down hill. Since 5 was when we had arguably amazing stories, the most amount of added creative pokemon. And a plethora of a bunch of new (at the time) features of online. Such as dreams and the entralink. Everything after this gen seemed rushed, unfinished and buggy.

There is absolutely nothing "hateful" about criticism and wanting a game you love to be at its best. Reminder the devs didn't add the Battle Frontier cuz their excuse is that people can play other games instead. Japanese players have no issues playing other monster collectirs but they underestimate their western fanbase's unwillingness to play other games lol. It's ESPECIALLY bad how Nintendo online is making you pay for p2p connection like the free online on 3DS. Ideally, a game should be good from the get-go, not rely on paid DLC to acieve quality. If you want really good online multiplayer in a monster collector, look into the Busters mode of Yo-Kai Watch 3. As a monster collector, it is incredible in terms of single player AND online multiplayer content. Also all its DLC is huge and free. Cannot recommend those games enough. I do NOT recommend the competitive format. I've studied and played it for years and have even made videos detailing my own gripes but the general gist is that it's a broken, unbalanced mess that can easily favor luck over actual skill.

bruh this game isn't co op at all, this game is crap. me and my friend got it, expecting to co op battles after joining a world. lmao! we can hardly even see each other battle wild pokemon. what's the point of this if we're just phantoms in each others' worlds? you can't even challenge each other to a battle or trade where you stand. you have to go through the menu like they're not even there. what a stupid game. tera raids are lame. I do not get the point of them. they've all been weird type variants you wouldn't want and easy to beat with npcs

Oh man , I thought I was tripping I have stable internet,and almost each time I play an online Raid (not even talking about when I try to join them and it doesn’t work) everything becomes so clunky, it lags hard , rollback , crash ect… Such a frustrating experience …

you can have great online, being playing local multiplayer, or just by yourself and there's still issues! only compounded by the problems on their end if you're playing online. it's really been an evil experience sometimes

Having hiopes for things at times can be ok as long as you do not holld realyhihopesis fo that dlc pay for or not cuz if you think like the dlc will be uot fo this world will you will offend be let down cuz. By the time the dlc dos com uot its not wet you and all like.
