Linn, I have spent years traveling abroad in more countries than I can count. You hit the nail on the head with your description of the intangible feel of a city with feels, smells, sounds and experiences. It is very difficult to articulate what you are describing unless you have experienced it. Excellent, I love your vlogs, vignettes or whatever you choose to call them...!

Thanks for sharing some of your past with us. I used to have an Adler typewriter, so this brought back some memories for me. Best wishes, Bill

Wow, I haven't seen that many typewriters for a long time, here in the UK you might find one in an antique shop or a flee market but to see them like that shop was amazing. you don't realise the difference in some places until you visit. Thanks for taking us with you on your shopping trip, it was very interesting.

I enjoyed watching your vlog experiment, and I agree with your remarks about Portland. It’s a wonderfully interesting place because it feels so genuine.

I love what you said. It is all about the experiences you have when you are in a city. The small details like subtle smells can make all the difference! I need to check out the paper and stationery place next time I go downtown. It looks really neat!

Love the new free form content. This reminds me of Austin as it used to be and still is in places.

Thanks Linn That reminds me of the way it was in the 50s an 60s when I was a kid but not many places around like that anymore

I have mused about parallels between Portland and French culture too...regionalism is important, Epicurean values, art, music, good cafes, writers are revered...people take a while to warm up to you, and there is a bit of elitism. I feel Portland is actively forming its identity, while Paris found its essence long ago. I wonder if the Parisians actively worked to define themselves in the past, as we do here today?

May you could call these efforts "volg-ettes", or "V- ruminations" possibly " converse-log", " V-chat" or (last one) "Verbal Delning". So, a volg but then not precisely. Hej Hej ! 🎙😀😀
