One thing worth mentioning about chimps vs gorillas: while the adults rarely fight, chimps have been known to target juvenile gorillas to assert territorial dominance.
@sadfaery
@sadfaery Жыл бұрын
And in recent years in Loango National Park in Gabon, scientists have observed chimps banding together to go after a troop of gorillas and killing gorilla infants. They think it might be due to food insecurity related to climate change, but the fact that it's happening at all is new and as possible because of the much larger numbers of the chimpanzee groups compared to the gorilla troops.

I think everyone should go watch the video of the orangutan who drives a golf cart around the preserve (unassisted and better than the majority of humans). She has her hand in the roof, just cruising along and drives past the tigers cage. She speeds up and then as she drives past has one of the biggest FU smirks I ever seen. Someone put a video of her to the Sopranos theme and it’s HILARIOUS!! Apparently she got a new electric golf cart.. she also sometimes takes a dog she’s friendly with along on her drives. One of the most heartwarming things on the internet.

Probably not as efficiently as humans because of center of gravity. Humans are the only great apes that is always perfectly upright. Its the only reason we can throw things with such high accuracy. Saw a video many years ago of a guy putting a baby gorilla back in the wild with a?troop? of gorillas. The silverback was familiar with the guy and came close. The kiddo squeaked a little and big daddy rushed in and grabbed him/her. The thing was he was so fast that you couldn’t see what he did until they played it again in slow motion. He covered twenty feet each way, brushed aside the fella, who dropped the baby (and probably a poo), caught the baby, and disappeared like the world’s most muscular ninja. If you can find the video watch it. The sheer power needed for a four hundred pound ape to be that fast is insane. The guy later commented on how gently he brushed him aside.

I highly doubt that an orangutans bite force 600 psi. I've seen videos of orangutans biting hard coconut shells that most have a hard time biting through, I'm guessing it's closer or equal to a gorilla's bite. And chimpanzees is about 1000 psi. Great apes have thick and strong neck muscles that are designed to crush tough plant materials with their teeth. It's no wonder why they are incredibly powerful animals

@@numbdigger9552 you could take an average out of the world's athletes since they are physically active like humans would be in the wild and the other great apes are. You could also base it off of biological attributes, for example while relatively speaking Chimps are 1.5 x stronger than a human, taking mass into account the average active human would be stronger than a chimp. Including the average non-athletic person and the hyper-athletic people like hapthor would certainly skew it as other apes have neither. Hapthor is insane as he would rank closer to a gorilla than a chimp, whereas the average non athlete would probably be about as strong as a large monkey like a baboon or maybe mandrill.

This may be accurate if the fight takes place uniquely in gorilla habitat and using just their physical attributes .... but that's not the only way that fight might go down.
