Siberian & Indian tigers would have a good chance of topping one of the sabertooth cats - that is Smilodon fatalis - as the tiger would be slightly bigger, heavier & more agile. However, against the 400 kg plus, South American Smilodon populator, TIGER WOULD LOSE.

First, Smilodon was not an ancestor of any extant cat. Smilodon's lineage of cats, which refers to all the cats that had enlarged upper canines, went extinct at the Pleistocene/Holocene boundary. All modern big cats evolved out of a separate lineage. Second, Lions would have a comparable bite force to Tigers. For the two cats generally kill in the same way and hunt animals of a similar size with the most commonly targeted animals weighing around 700 pounds. A Bengal or Siberian Tiger might hold an advantage, but it wouldn't necessarily be by much. Third, the comparison with Lions actually misses the fact that Lions are very social animals and that any conflict with a lone Smilodon would give the Lion the advantage of numbers. Though, some fossil evidence would suggest that Smilodon was also fairly social and may have also lived in prides. Fourth, while Lions and Tigers may have had comparable muscle mass... but given how robust Smilodon is, it's really going to depend on which of the three Smilodon species you're looking at. Gracilis was the smallest and maxed out in the 200-pound range, Fatalis reached an estimated 620-pound maximum weight, comparable to the largest Siberian Tigers (based on historic weight records and estimates), and Populator could reach over 900 pounds, which would be comparable to a Rocky Mountain Grizzly or Eurasian Brown Bear. The modern cats might be able to win... but against Populator, surprise would be an ever-bigger requirement because of that size difference and the muscle mass that came with it. For because of its long and delicate sabers, Smilodon needed to be even more powerful than other modern cats would need to be. Which would mean that even Smilodon Gracilis would be quite strong for its size. Fifth, while Tigers are the apex predators in the areas in which they live... they are not unchallenged. Guar, if they know where a Tiger is may chase after it to remove a predator. Dhole packs have been recorded killing Tigers when they have good sized numbers... They may take heavy casualties, but it's a case where being in a group wins out. And Tigers across their range have at times have had various issues with Ursids, and while they have won more often than they've lost, this doesn't necessarily mean dominance. At least not to a point where there isn't a moment of worry on the Bear's part. The Ussuri Brown Bear, while it has been preyed on by the Siberian Tiger, has also been known to trail Tigers to scavenge kills and from time-to-time Tigers have been killed by Bears. And a lot of the Sloth Bear's aggression in India is associated with the fact that the Bengal Tiger has had a habit of hunting them... but as with all cats, it's a hunt by ambush, and more often than not, if the Sloth Bear knows where the Tiger is, the Tiger is more likely to back down to avoid injury. As there have been recorded case in which a Bengal Tiger has killed a Sloth Bear, but suffered such injuries in the fight that it killed the Bear and then died of its wounds. Sixth, if Smilodon were to back down... it would probably be done as a means to protect its teeth. The sabers are impressive to look at, but their strength is only going to be in the up and down motion of the bite and a forward and back motion that would be anchored by the depth of the canine from front to back. However, from side to side, these teeth were actually pretty weak as a result of the narrowness of the sabers and their length. This is in part why Smilodon as a species is so robustly built to have the hope of truly restricting the motion of its prey and thus avoid the risk of breaking a saber.

I’m sorry but Smilodon populator (assuming that’s the species being used here) vs any modern cat is not even fair I could explain in depth why that is but should I even bother to explain how a fight between a jaguar and a saber-toothed cat would NOT “go either way”💀
@ultimate_animal_showdown14 сағат бұрын
Also Smilodon is NOT a tiger
@VillainMadeIntoMonster9 сағат бұрын
Smilodon Populator would lose to the Preshistoic Ngandong tiger which was the largest species of tiger ever recorded in history. If it was Smilodon fatalis it would go either way for the Jaguar and the Saber tooth cat but if it's a Smilodon Populator he'd guarantee a win. An American lion would also beat Smilodon Populator and if the Jaguar was the size of a tiger it would probably stand a better chance against Smilodon Populator. No need to glaze Smilodon that much 💀
@VillainMadeIntoMonster9 сағат бұрын
@@ultimate_animal_showdown American lion would win against Smilodon Populator High- Extreme difficulty. Ngandong tiger would also win High- Extreme difficulty. Smilodon fatalis would most likely win against a jaguar extreme difficulty because that fight could go either way. Smilodon was not that great compared to the other big cats. It doesn't even live up to the "glaze"💀😭🙏

Neither. The mamba will bite the badger just before the badger kills the mamba. Both die. BTW, bees can indeed sting honey badgers, and have been known to kill them.
