It makes sense that Gobta doesn't have to use honoriffics with Rimuru: Gobta and Rimuru are friends, in a very casual, "hang out and get in trouble together" sort of way. If they weren't both adults when they met, Gobta would've been "prince Rimuru"'s one commoner friend who hangs out with him despite the social status difference. He's the friend Rimuru can do stuff with without having to worry about being the guy in charge of the place they're doing stuff.

@@candycanenee Exactly! And Tensura Nikki did its job well in showcasing things like that in Rimuru's relationships with his friends and adopted family. In a sense, Gobta is also Rimuru's whipping boy. Which is fitting, because he's the narrative whipping boy of the good guy team: if comedic pain is to be inflicted, it's almost always landing on poor Gobta. If Rimuru is behaving like a mischievous ne'er-do-well for any reason, it's almost certainly with Gobta as his sidekick (or even as GOBTA's sidekick in the endeavor), and thus when both are caught, Rimuru gets some embarassment and a light smack (because they know better), and Gobta gets the real physical punishment. I wonder if the traditional whipping boy was also a close personal friend to the noble kid he was the whipping boy for, or if he more typically was a bullied victim of said noble kid. I would think the concept works better if they're real friends and the noble cares about his friend's pain, but....

So my theory is that at some point during the next volume of the LN, Gobta will have a huge arc and will become even stronger after. Then we will get another side story from the red haired goblina point of view visiting Tempest for the first time. There she will run into Gobta and fall in love with him. The end. Would be such a nice way to end his story :) Also Gobta has been one of my favorite characters in the story from the beginning. He's made me lol more times then anyone else. Highlight moment is when he was rewarded by Rimuru to be able to call him Rimuru without honorifics.

I haven't read the LN but one of the Goblin Riders I wonder about is Gobchi, (the one with the Eye patch). Cause if the eye was lost and he had received healing from on of the potions it would grow back. So either he hasn't used a healing potion which means he hasn't even gotten hurt or the eye has been healed but needs to cover it. Is it a birth defect or is it special??
