About this video:
In this video, we’ll continue our tour at Printful’s fulfillment center in Riga with our in-house expert Sergeys. We’ll start by going over some of the general topics related to machine embroidery, which you’ll find useful whether you’re an experienced or a rookie apparel store owner, and then we’ll show the entire process of how this hat was made.
The embroidery process starts when you upload your image to our services, and then we digitize it. After digitization, we have a stitch program that makes it possible for your design to be embroidered on our machines. Then the process can start kind of easy. We just take the blank product, put it in the machine, and start the embroidery process.
Printful digitizes designs on their own because we're limited not only to the thread counts but also to the machines we're using. But it’s not bad for the customer. It’s good for the customer because what we’re doing, we’re making a more precise stitching program for the needs of our machinery and especially for our blanks that we’re using.
In comparison to regular printing where you’re just applying a layer of ink, and it’s literally happening in seconds. In the embroidery process, you need to apply the stitches. So the process takes much, much longer. It could take up to minutes.
As a result, you get a product that lasts longer. The threads that we’re using are already colored. We also need to mention that the embroidery process is really environmentally friendly because we’re not using any chemicals for that process. It’s just embroidery. That’s it.
In embroidery, the quality consists of two things. The first thing is what you see, the front side of embroidery. You want it to be sharp, beautiful, without any stitches in the wrong direction. But the second thing that we need to see is what’s happening on the backside.
Because for some products, especially for light materials, we also need to add a backing material. So the blank that we’re stitching on doesn’t shrink. And also, of course, excess of the threads that we’re cutting off. So that the backside looks really beautiful and flat.

I have serveral questions :) Will there be more ecofriendly options for the active wear in the future? The bikini is already on the list so the leggings should be an easy add :). Will you consider using less plastic in the packaging in the future? I noticed some of the items don't go up to 5xl. Are you planning on expanding this? Thank you :)

I would like to know why the embroidery quality is so inconsistent. My 1st embroidered sweatsuit set had clean embroidery with no threads poking out and the backing trimmed. Second order was a long sleeve tee and the fleece shorts. The embroidery backing wasn’t cleaned up and trimmed at all on the shirt and both started to unravel. I had to had fix it so it wouldn’t come loose. The last embroidered item I ordered the signature embroidery on the sleeve was disappointing. There’s gaps in the lines where the shirt fabric is poking through. When it’s done well it looks great. The inconsistency bothers me.

Hey when will Printful provide a 14 by 14 (full image) PUFF PRINT on SHIRTS, HOODIES AND SWEAT PANTS. I need bigger images. Also Bigger Embroidery images. Last Question: what T-shirt, Hoodie, and pants GARMENTS do Printful provide that gives you the best DTG Print Quality? For my brand I want all of your best quality garments.

Hey! Large embroidery for T-shirts is available for text and clipart collections. The reason why it's not available for custom files is because we want to ensure your embroidery design is not heavier than the garment itself. Large custom embroideries tend to be heavy and will stretch out t-shirt fabric resulting in bad quality. As for puff prints, 3D pff embroidery is already available. 🙂 We believe that all of our products should offer the best quality and outcome. We test our products vigorously before launching them and only offer printing techniques if they pass our tests. However, there are exceptions to this. If a cotton is too thick, it can absorb more of the ink and result in a faded look. @@PrintfulCustomPrinting Yes I have tested some t-shirts. I like the thick tshirts Printful offers. So if I did a puff print with your text collection, I can cover majority of the front print of a shirt? Also I have embroidery images that shouldn’t be no heavier than the text or clip art Printful offers. But I respect it. Printful has been great for me in helping grow my business. Thank you.
