Subscriber here, so nice surprise when this popped up, just what I needed. Question - no pinky?

The pinky debate! Now's there's a controversial subject! The problem with the pinky in blues is that we often bend and manipulate notes so the pinky just doesn't have the control that the third finger does. If was playing 3NPS based legato stuff I'd def use the pinky but for blues I prefer to favour the third finger for that level of control. Thanks for the sub!

Did it take a bit to get use to the Strat, after playing the Les Paul? I know that Fender has a slimmer neck. I've had 5 Les Paul's. And I've had One USA Fender Strat & 7 Squire Strats. I usually play my Squire Fat strat, but my favorite one to play is my Ibanez, but it's needing work right now.

Some people say they take a while to adapt from a Strat to Les Paul, but it seems to happen pretty instantly for me. The think I find hard is adapting to the sound. The Les Paul is obv higher output and all your pedal settings need changing. Must admit, I'm more comfortable with a strat especially live. I just know how it's going to react.

@@timdaleybluesguitar101 For me personally, I love the Les Paul when sitting down. It's a bit heavy and sits great on my leg. Love the feel of it. However, when I'm standing, I prefer the Strat. It's thinner and feels better to me for standing. Do you own a SG? Their not all created equal. I had a 1974 SG and traded it for a 1983 Buddy Holly tribute. I hated the dirty sound. Great clean tones. But I was a Metal player back then & traded that for a Les Paul Custom. But later sold it for weed & beer money. (Yes, I was a dumb ass!) haha

@@thebluesrockers Yes I totally know what you mean. My Les Paul is pretty light, think it's about 8lb 3oz, which is a great weight. And no I don't have an SG, just not a fan of the shape. I do quite fancy a P90 double cut Les Paul special though. I sold some guitars back in the day I wish I'd kept for sure! Totally know that feeling!

@@timdaleybluesguitar101 I love the double cut les paul's too. PRS makes some great one's too. If you're into classic rock & Metal. Those P-90's are awesome. My 2003 Les Paul special had those. Great tone for slide guitar. It also sounded awesome with classic rock & metal. But I did have a half stack & a processor, the RP-12 by digi-tech.

Ok! What"s position 1, 2 & 3? Everybody and his brother has a different understanding of this. Please elaborate.
@timdaleybluesguitar1019 ай бұрын
I'm referring to positions 1,2,3,4 and 5 of the pentatonic scale. I'd attach a diagram but can't do that here. Position 1 of Am for example is low E string frets 5and8, A, D and G 5and7, B and high E, 5and8. Just Google, 'pentatonic positions' and you'll see a diagram. Make sense?
