I've shot Manual for close to 50 years. Strongly prefer it over any other approach. Do what feels best for YOU.

Your pictures immediately made me think of James Popsys with the manmade objects in them. I've got an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II and although you can set an ISO range you can't do the same with the shutter speed, unless I'm missing something. Good video

I have used Aperture priority to shoot everything including weddings for the past 15 years. I first set the aperture I set ISO manually as needed depending upon what I am shooting and how fast of a shutter speed I need, use exposure comp to make changes to my exposure. I also set white balance and metering as needed. You have to be aware of your camera settings but it makes you pay more attention to what you are doing as a photographer. Good video.

Thanks for this. As someone just starting it's - I believe - a part of the journey to learn the hard way the proper purpose of your camera modes. I was on this manual only stroll for a while now and I surely feel that I learned quite a lot, but recently it feels more like a constant struggle with all the settings rather than taking actual photos and thinking about other bits like composition. Hope some other newbies will come across this video and realise that, yeah, you have to learn the triangle but don't let it become all there is in photography!

Exactly this! Learning it is important but don’t let yourself be bogged down by it. Thanks for watching 😎

aperture priority 100% of the time. i learned to shoot manual for a year or so when i started, and once i got the grasp, switched to AP and never looked back, and there's no reason to. i only use manual now for long exposures or specific creative situations.

With the Leica M, “aperture priority mode” is funny to me because that’s all I get all the time 😊 no complaints it’s perfect!

Man, that was very interesting. Though you've been talking about the mode for over 8 minutes and still didn't say how it's called on on cameras :D I have a Canon, is it Av, Tv, B, how is it called? lol I watched the video hoping at least getting a footage how you're switching mode on your camera and selecting the one, but... Long story short, I think you might show it and it would be better for both sides. Cheers.

The Lumix is a FF camera so why limit your high ISO to 6400? I used a 15 year old 12MP Nikon D3s and I keep mine at ISO 25,600 and the pics are great for that sensor! With my D5, I keep it at 1,024,000 and they're still great. FF sensors have come a long way so don't be afraid of high ISOs and limit yourself.

ISO 6400 is one of the two native ISO settings of the camera.

Who the heck shoots in manual full time?! Not one photographer I know does this daily. The only exception being ones using film cameras with no metering and any auto options.

@@lesberkley3821 Indeed! For anyone new to photography reading this, the video title is correct. Aperture priority is usualy king. You control the depth of field and let the camera do the work on the rest (I personally also manually set the ISO). Don't let yourself be pressured into shooting in manual. It's a pain in the but and completely unnecessary! Master the controls/parameters so you know what they do but make your life easier and the hobby more enjoyable by using the camera to its fullest potential and capabilities.

I´ve been shooting manual 99,9 % of the time for more than 10 years bro. But I´m open (with my new camera) to try some automatic modes, sometimes 😅 But it´s not something related with distrust, but the joy of mastering the manual mode in that way...like you don´t even think in settings, you just use them. Among I tent to use flashes a lot, and they´re not TTL... And yes...I have a manual transmition car too 😂

It’s mentioned quite a bit in online fora (youtube, reddit etc.). I’m not convinced the “manual bros” do much photography outside of posting photos of their cameras, though.

It does help to know how exposure works. I grew up on "manual mode" because there was nothing else.@@MacKingG
