The first time I decontaminated my wife’s car in the six years that we’ve owned it I couldn’t believe the amount of gloss and depth it brought back to the paint, great video Chelsea 👍😁❤️

I make my own acidic shampoo with superior products wheel acid & any ph neutral soap. Mix the acid 1:10 then add an ounce of the soap in a sprayer. The soap helps keep it on the panel longer without drying out too fast. If I get any on the windows or trim I simply wipe it with a Rinsless wash soaked towel to protect it from any etching. It sounds scary but it’s not. It’s very safe & effective if done properly

How often does this need to be done and how do you see it on a dark color ?
@attention2detailswchelsea10 ай бұрын
Ideally every 6-12 months OR if your paint feels slightly gritty to the touch after washing or drying. On darker colored cars you may not see the reaction going on (you might if you look closely enough or as it drips off the paint) but if there is anything to react with it will do what it needs to do and you can either follow up with a wash mitt (for a coated or freshly polished car if you’re nervous about marring the paint) or a clay towel /bar treatment based on severity. I do a clay towel treatment two times a year for my customers for light maintenance for reference and combine it with an iron remover before applying coatings or before paint enhancements.
@btbd278510 ай бұрын
You could also use P&S Crytal wash before you do an Iron Decon. You can spray this even on your trim and not worry about staining or damaging the trim. Then you can use the D.I.Y Clay towel and / or clay bar for more deeper iron decon:)😂

Great demonstration Chelsa. One question for you: I watched your video with Pan. You stated you had a pair of insulated winter gloves for washing in cold weather. Where did you purchase those gloves? Thanks for all your great videos. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Love this kind of advising and fully explenation with demostration...great video! I dont seem to fully understand the diference between iron remover and rust remover and why dont you use rust remover in this rust case...i mean i know that iron remover desolves break dust and iron particles on wheels but i thought its better ti use rust remover for paint and all the rusty spots...
@attention2detailswchelsea10 ай бұрын
What kind of rust removers are you referring to?
@android-jp3kn10 ай бұрын
@@attention2detailswchelsea Koch Chemie RRR (reactive rust remover) i use mostly...i also have ironx and to be honest i really couldnt tell the diference and when to use which one
@attention2detailswchelsea10 ай бұрын
@android-jp3kn so the name says it’s a rust remover, but technically it is an iron remover so you could use them interchangeably. There are dedicated rust remover products like Rust stain remover from Whink, but they are very thin and more designed for chrome or metal to remove rust. I actually will use that on interiors as well when there’s rust on carpets, but those products are specifically designed for rust and are not going to have any sort of reactions like we would expect from an iron remover. It’s different chemicals and different reactions going on.
@android-jp3kn10 ай бұрын
@@attention2detailswchelsea yeah i guessed so myself its the same product but its nice to hear from proff to be sure...and ofcourse there is no better advice than "try it all and figure it out what suit for you"...tx for quick response👍

Hi Chelsea, every time I had a question, u answered it. Mine's red, how often, what equipment, etc. I just want to keep my car nice & living in WPA rust belt, want to keep it nice. I prefer the one's that turn purple. So do all iron removers HAVE lubricants in them? If not, we probably do better hosing off remover & applying a lube while clay toweling (bar)? Once again, a VERY informative video. Thank u! 👍
@attention2detailswchelsea10 ай бұрын
Not all iron removers have surfactants within them but the ones I recommended in the video description do, so would be safe to use with a clay towel for added lubrication. They also are the less stinkier ones on the market some actually smell pretty good once you spray them. ( I mean I wouldn’t put them behind my ear as perfume, but they also won’t make you run into the house ready to strip your clothing off as soon as you’re done with that step. ) Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for watching.

First time i did our white car i was surprised with the amount of “bleeding” there was. Car was only 2 years old, driven 2 miles a day and not parked near anything that should have caused that reaction. Used a fine clay and it looked better than new.
@attention2detailswchelsea10 ай бұрын
I’ve done it on a 2 week old car and had the same reaction. Often times when cars are brought in to the dealership it’s either by train or semi truck and they are not enclosed on the sides so they pick up a ton of rail dust. That’s why the high-end exotic cars will be completely wrapped with a vinyl sticker like cover to protect the paint from picking those up during transport.

I believe that is tree sap. There are certain trees, (I can’t remember the name) that throws off sap that will look just like a little rust spot on the paint. Still bad news to leave on the paint, but that isn’t rust.

Unfortunately it was rail dust but artillery fungus is I think what you’re meaning and that’s black dots that are normally larger and raised and those can be removed with a clay bar or towel treatment as well

I’d be curious if you sprayed an iron remover if you’d still get some reactions… even when my paint looks pristine there’s always a few reactions. You can easily spray it and work it in with your wash mitt to keep them from accumulating
