Touching up on the tragedy causing the natural release of that plasticity state. You said seeing something like the grand canyon causing you to enter this state, I think that you enter that state once something disrupts a threshold of habits. Seeing the grand canyon can put you in this state if you've rarely seen it but if you seen it every day you probably wouldn't. Like you mom passing away would put you in this state because you built a habit of seeing her and being with her but if you didn't know you mom then it wouldn't effect you too much.

Is it possible to cure deep depression from childhood abuse and abandonment from my mother? I also witnessed a lot of violence at home.. Im 32, been hyperactive, restless all my life.. as a coping mechanism until my health started to fail.. with chronic fatigue and inner emptiness and deep sadness.. I’m microdosing and did some hero doses.. but the last big trips were a bit scary and the emotions I felt were to difficult and painful.. I still felt release after those trips but I’m scared of being re traumatized during the trips.. I lost the meaning of life as I never had a secure attachment relationship in my life.. I was wondering if mushrooms could help with this

From my researching psilocybin on line, it seems like the doctor's encourage micro dosing rather than large doses. One day on, two days off ... hope that helps. 🙏🏼🙌🏼
@hesterwright3674Ай бұрын
I've been looking into the studies where psilocybin has been used therapeutically to treat depression and similar. They use doses of 2.5g with two weeks in between the doses. There are specific things they do during the trip to make it more therapeutic. Wearing an eyemask, using music to guide the trip, having psychotherapists supervising the trip seem to be the main things (although the psychotherapists don't do much except being comforting and encouraging throughout the process, and I guess any trusted person could do that for you). Try to find out how they're used in the trials. There are documentaries and studies you can watch/read to get the information, and you can copy what they do. Then you'll have the best chance of getting better. The scary parts of the trip are necessary to heal, you have to face the dark horrible things, try to go towards them and come out of the other side having beaten it.

Q: Could some of the similarities in results between psilocybin and escitalopram be due to the therapeutic model used (i.e. the setting, psychiatric support and integration therapy)?

I would have thought nature would want to make the experience of awe an equally potent trigger of 2A as is stress, because neuroplasticity is equally required - in order to recognise and adapt to the new information

Thanks for this 🙏 Although I struggle with some of the scientific jargon, I struggle much more with chronic depression / PTSD etc (!) so I’ve begun delving into psychedelics lately & am excited about the prospect of an alternative to the vast amount of pharmaceuticals myself & countless others have had to rely on for at least “some” relief. I’ve been looking to volunteer for research studies of psilocybin & DMT to no avail as yet. Are you aware of any in or around the Vancouver BC area ? I have participated in two guided “journey’s” this past year & was impressed how just those 2 experiences brought such relief & fresh perspective on how life without the constant dread / anxiety / fatigue could be 👍🏼

A company to keep an eye on is EntheoTech bioscience, which will be operating out of Kelowna. I know they will be recruiting for a study looking at psilocybin for depression and chronic pain sometime around the Fall - in case you think you'd be eligible.

@@ThePsychedelicScientist Hi Manesh! I posted this question over on Reddit, but I figure you would be the perfect person to ask. So here goes... Q: I'm trying to determine if a phospholipid supplement might shorten the tolerance window of psychedelics. This sentence, from an article on PSR, caught my eye: "When a compound binds to the 5-HT2A receptor on a cell, it stimulates an enzyme called phospholipase C. This, in turn, activates another enzyme called protein kinase and also stimulates the release of calcium ions from storage areas in the cell. This enzymatic and biochemical activity culminates in cellular changes that result in the overall perceived effect." Since phospholipase C cleaves phospholipids just before the phosphate group, would replenishing phospholipids then be beneficial? I'm specifically looking at supplementing with phosphatidylserine (PS). I'm planning to try this supplement beginning mid-week in preparation for my next weekly dose of 1.5 grams of P. Cubensis, this Sunday. That will give me 3 - 4 days of supplementing (600mg/daily) to see if it has an affect. I'm pretty attuned to my tolerance by now, so any affect should be noticeable. The following week, I will test a full 7 days of supplementing. I started going down this path after researching tolerance to psilocybin. My tolerance became most noticeable when I began a weekly 1 - 1.5 gram dose schedule, as opposed to microdosing. I believe this schedule to be more effective than microdosing. The tolerance seems most acute in the visual cortex, as CEVs are very much degraded, even after 7 days. My (personal) theory is that CEVs are dependent on phosphates, and more specifically, phospholipids. Are there any "real" scientists out there that can collaborate or debunk anything I've said here?
@ThePsychedelicScientist3 жыл бұрын
@@onsightitify Hmmm my understanding of tolerance to psychedelics is that it’s mainly due to downregulation of 5-HT2A receptors. I think it’s unlikely that phospholipids are decreased/ non-replenished in the receptors and also very unlikely that consuming a compound orally can have any receptor-specific effects - given that phospholipids are in every cell throughout the body.
@onsightitify3 жыл бұрын
@@ThePsychedelicScientist Thankyou so much for the reply. Trying a supplement, specifically phosphatidylserine, may or may not be efficacious, but it should be harmless at worst, and is supposed to promote neurogenesis at best. I'll let you know if it turns out I'm chasing windmills... ;) Edit: In case you are interested (and have time), the article below cites a lot of studies on phospholipids. The studies I'm most interested in are down the page a bit, under the heading "Phospholipids and neurological development/neurological disorders". (I'm 57, so some of these studies resonate with me for other reason than psychedelics.) Article url (without dots): lipidworld biomedcentral com/articles/10.1186/1476-511X-11-3

One minute in and he clearly doesn’t know anything considering his credentials LMAO - But on another note, it would be nice to hear about personal experiences, if any, with compounds/chemicals that are considered “psychedelic”. Without personal experience - even single events - it’s a little sus and makes all of those top notch credentials fall be the wayside as compared to someone who has years of actual experience in dosing … yet at the same time, the later group often and for good reason aren’t taken seriously. He looks to be at least half grey, so there is no reason to doubt his intention.
@thegoodlydragon74523 жыл бұрын
The stoned ape hypothesis is ridiculous not because of anything to do with the politics of drugs or anything like that, but simply because it fundamentally misunderstands evolution. Evolution works through natural selection acting on beneficial genes (beneficial insofar as they help you survive or reproduce), which is not to be conflated with an individual's personal evolution. In order for the hypothesis to ever be properly supported what you would need to demonstrate is that taking psychedelics creates genetic changes to a sperm or egg cell that would be passed on to the next generation and are also more likely to cause individuals with said change to have more surviving offspring. Unless you can make an experiment that would demonstrate either that that does or does not occur, it's unfalsifiable and therefore not science, but pseudoscience.
@ThePsychedelicScientist2 жыл бұрын
yes the only way it could work is if eating shrooms gave certain individuals of the species a survival or reproductive advantage, and that these individuals were more likely to have specific traits which were then selected for the first part of that is at least semi-plausible: maybe it boosted empathy and social functioning? maybe it improved abstract communication? maybe in encourage more complex forms of abstract associative thinking? maybe it conferred greater behavioural flexibility? as for the second half, it's in principle possible that the individuals who took the risk of deliberately trying the mushrooms had some greater cognitive ability which led to curiosity or some semblance of an idea that it might be a good thing. therefore it might select for brain development. overall unlikely, but not completely ridiculous IMO.
