I hope they do more studies on microdosing to lend more credibility to it - I have been microdosing for months and it is DEFINITELY actually helping me in a much different way than any prior medication or treatment, and it is not a placebo (trust me I've "believed" in lots of prior things that simply didn't work!). I am working through issues that are slowly being revealed as I continue microdosing, I have more patience in general for others, I am not so easily overwhelmed by basic tasks that used to cause major anxiety, and more.

All the current research indicates that there is a dose-response relationship between psilocybin and mental health conditions like depression and PTSD up to around 40 mg of psilocybin (roughly equivalent to 4 grams of dried mushrooms). I'm glad that it's working for you, but just because you FEEL like it's not a placebo, it doesn't mean that it isn't. Science needs to be rigorous.

🎯 Key points for quick navigation: 00:14 *🧠 Overview of Current Psychiatric Treatment Challenges* - Psychiatry lacks effective pharmacological cures for disorders like eating disorders and personality disorders. - Treatments for common disorders such as depression are often insufficiently effective. - Existing treatments have significant side effects, and there's a lack of new drug development in psychiatry. 04:02 *🍄 Historical Context and Modern Revival of Psychedelic Research* - Psychedelic research faced a significant setback post-1970 due to legal restrictions. - Recent years have seen a resurgence in psychedelic research at institutions like UCSF, Hopkins, and NYU. - Psilocybin, the active compound in hallucinogenic mushrooms, has been a focal point of modern research. 06:22 *🌀 Pharmacological Effects and Mechanisms of Psilocybin* - Psilocybin metabolizes into psilocin, which primarily affects serotonin receptors, particularly the 5HT2A receptor. - Typical effects of psilocybin include alterations in perception, mood, cognition, and behavior. - Its duration of effects allows for potential therapeutic use within a workday setting. 12:06 *🚫 Safety and Dependence Potential of Psychedelics* - Psychedelics like psilocybin have low potential for dependence compared to substances like heroin or nicotine. - Physiologically, psychedelics are generally well-tolerated even at higher doses. - The risk of overdose or lethal dose ratio is favorable compared to many other substances. 14:54 *🌱 Microdosing vs. Macrodosing: Applications and Evidence* - Microdosing involves taking sub-perceptual doses intermittently and lacks substantial clinical trial evidence. - Macrodosing, used in clinical trials, involves higher doses for therapeutic psychedelic experiences. - Existing research indicates placebo effects may significantly influence reported benefits of microdosing. 26:28 *🌌 Connecting with suppressed grief and trauma* - Exploring suppressed traumatic memories and emotions. - Engaging with intense feelings and finding comfort and liberation through psychedelic experiences. 29:22 *🌈 Psilocybin therapy for AIDS survivors* - Using psilocybin therapy to help HIV-positive individuals who survived the AIDS epidemic. - Addressing complex psychiatric issues stemming from traumatic experiences. - Group therapy format effectiveness and demographic considerations. 33:30 *🧠 Study design and outcomes in psilocybin therapy* - Group therapy integrated with individual dosing in a clinical trial setting. - Positive outcomes in reducing demoralization and enhancing quality of life. - Challenges and benefits of using an open-label study design. 36:20 *📈 Efficacy and durability of psilocybin treatment* - Rapid and enduring improvements in depression observed after psilocybin therapy. - Long-term benefits observed up to several weeks post-treatment. - Potential for single-dose treatment to manage depressive symptoms effectively. 39:11 *🌍 Hope, hype, and expectations in psychedelic therapy* - Managing expectations and understanding the balance between hope and reality in psychedelic treatments. - Addressing societal and individual hopes regarding the transformative potential of psychedelics. - Challenges in meeting expectations while maintaining scientific rigor. 46:12 *🕶️ Challenges of blinding in psychedelic clinical trials* - The importance and challenges of maintaining blinding in clinical trials involving psychedelics. - Impact of participant and researcher expectations on study outcomes. - Comparisons with traditional pharmacological trials and implications for study design. 52:29 *🧠 Psilocybin's Potential Risks in Bipolar Patients* - Psilocybin can induce manic episodes in individuals with underlying bipolar disorder. - A systematic review found cases where individuals without prior bipolar disorder developed mania post-psilocybin use. - Challenges include distinguishing whether psilocybin triggers bipolar disorder or merely unmasks latent symptoms. 54:24 *🌍 Global Survey on Psilocybin Use in Bipolar Disorder* - Over 500 respondents reported using psilocybin for mental health; about a third experienced worsening symptoms. - Geographic distribution of survey participants highlighted widespread interest in psilocybin therapy. - Despite adverse effects, users generally rated psilocybin's helpfulness highly while perceiving its harm as low. 58:12 *🧬 Psilocybin Research and Clinical Trials* - Ongoing clinical trials explore psilocybin's efficacy in treating conditions like depression, anxiety, Parkinson's disease, and more. - Research includes comparative studies on different psychedelic compounds and their mechanisms, particularly inflammation. - Challenges in integrating psychotherapy with drug treatments in clinical settings are being addressed in these trials. 01:16:28 *🌿 Psychedelic Culture and Ethics* - Psychedelic research acknowledges its roots in indigenous practices like ayahuasca ceremonies. - There's a sensitive balance between scientific exploration and cultural appropriation. - Cultural respect is maintained in settings like dosing rooms adorned with local California nature. 01:18:20 *🧠 Psychedelics and Adolescent Mental Health* - The adolescent brain's ongoing development raises concerns about psychedelic safety. - Research into conditions like anorexia nervosa in adolescents is crucial due to high mortality rates. - Balancing potential benefits with unknown risks guides decisions on researching psychedelics for youth. 01:22:10 *💊 SSRIs and Psychedelic Interactions* - There's a historical exclusion of SSRI users from psychedelic trials due to safety concerns. - Contrary to lore, actual research on SSRI interactions with psychedelics is limited. - Understanding these interactions is pivotal for future psychedelic therapy developments. @dominicannand88782 ай бұрын
the stomach upset is from the spores they are best harvested for consumption before the veil breaks to avoid the stomach problems and id avoid extracts you are missing out on the the full spectrum of constituents that work synergistically mild amounts of maoi and precursor alkaloids and whatever else complex carbohydrates fiber ect it all works together, kind of like cannabis and the different effects due to cannabinoids and terpenes taking pure thc is not good it can lead to addiction and further mental problems the terpenes and other cannabinoids like cbd are very important in reducing negative effects another example would be macuna pruriens velvet bean it can help with dopamine levels but taking L-dopa by itself isnt good its cutting out important enzymatic processes in the body and can actually make you worse , anyway maybe try grinding them too a powder and adding it to some chocolates measure out doses into the chocolate add other mushrooms powders such as lions mane mushroom works quite well with psilocybin bit more synergy at play and will help increase neurogenesis and neuroplasticity

That's exactly what it felt like happened. I've asked around for the last 3 years here in Yuma and Tucson and nobody seems to know where to get it. You'd think it would be easy to find here. I won't send money over the internet. I have severe treatment resistant depression, severe anxiety and Narcolepsy. I pretty much have spent the last 25 years in bed, wasting everyday of my life. Why is it if a drug makes us feel good or better it's bad? Life is too short to go through it miserable especially when there is something that really helps
