Aboriginal Australians face the worst racism
@toby1823 жыл бұрын
Half of them born or raised here since they're kids? They're very different to some who are fresh off the boat who barely speaks English, or even if I speak in an odd accent or using the wrong grammar, most will just brush me off. I can't meddle with my Asian cousins who were born here because there's a big gap between our culture and behaviour. It'll be interesting to see this video going more in-depth, really digging into the suburbs to find that specific town populated by immigrants. This video isn't enough to do any justice, it's sugar coating Australia.

As an Asian Australian who grew up in AUS, I saw how my international friends from China, Malaysia, Singapore were treated (and they all came to AUS over 18) and it's like night and day. It sounds harsh but I think accents really do make a difference, bcus even Asians with Australian accents will be seen as Australian, but I can't say the same for my international friends bcus the stories I've heard were quite shocking tbh. Again culture and behaviour is another factor and tbh I feel like I fit in more with Aussies bcus I have already adapted to their way of thinking at a young age, but international students would often find it more difficult. Tbh they really need to get more perspectives from international students because their experiences are so different, in that some even choose to move back to their home countries as they really felt like they don't fit in (and you can't blame them). I do wish Australians were more open minded to other cultures, although we're multicultural I think we need to improve the inclusion part.

So as long as you as a foreigner dont behave like a foreigner and work really hard to be as australian as possible you will experience just a light and acceptable amount of racism. Cool.

Was just randomly jumping through videos and boy, stumbled upon a little gem this. Growing up here in Australia - very similar experiences with what's been shared here; the banter is real here and if you look hard enough you'll always find something stereotyping or racism but just walk away from it and you'll be sweet. I've however encountered a few instances (who remembers Pauline Hanson back then against asians) but nothing too major. Come COVID one more instance but again - nothing to be concerned about; if it's attacks frequently to a majority of people and everyone turns a blind eye, then systematically something needs to be done. You'll find bad eggs in every demographic, nationality and culture. Loved the messages of the people here.

What I find hilarious and from a sense/ logic point. Is Australia fear of Asia. We live in Asia, Australasia!! Asians are native/indigenous to this part of the world (literally next door to AU). Europe is on the other side and they are indigenous to Europe - those white complexions are not adapted to Australia and Asian subtropical climate. Side note I am not Asian.
@spark300c Жыл бұрын
makes sense and north American has more of mix European and Asian because the native where closest to asians. also since American is mix of different Europeans that skin cancer date really weird. In us one country can have rates while one next door is low for white Americans.

That's a good point. From this video and a lot of the comments, we can see that everyone experiences and takes on racism in different ways based on what suits them or their situation, and how they choose to perceive it or handle it is very case by case.

@Atokhu Zhimomi Does Krystal have small eyes? Do all the other Asians in this video have small eyes? No. There are Asians living pretty much in all parts of the world and its hard to miss. This interview is done in what I assume is in Australia so the demographic of Asians in Australia is significantly large. Don't forget the internet where its pretty much globalization 101 with social media let alone having a search engine everyone uses. So I think her story is rubbish and her eyes look like the result of having surgery.

They need to stop idolising western features. It’s like when you travel Asia, every billboard is of a woman with coloured eyes, eye lid surgery and bleached white skin. Shit, in china they pay astronomical amounts for sperm from tall Caucasian males with green or blue eyes. The worst part is they test your skin pigmentation and the whiter you are the more money you get! It’s fucking ridiculous! 😅

@@ScufflesWaffles do you buy into the narrative that wealthy immigrants are buying up properties (and bolstering the overall economy in the process), or “ taking jobs away" (and paying taxes to support the healthcare and welfare system and don’t forget - the ever rising cost of pension) or that they buy and build businesses that provide jobs and livelihoods to other Australians? My point being, try and take things easy, there are always two sides to the story, I only just came across this video, but it looks like you’ve been stalking the comment section for months. Just let it go.❤️ When you open up your heart and mind, and seek to build rather than divide, your world opens up and you will see more opportunities in front of you. Wishing you well.
@ScufflesWaffles3 жыл бұрын
@@coffeebreak100 it’s not “bolstering the economy” if it’s not in Australia’s interest. They set up businesses here, dodge taxes (cash-only payments prevalent in asian shops), employ their own without proper documentation and licensing (aka sweat shops). And once they have set roots in Australia they conduct espionage on behalf of their motherland. So yes i do believe in that narrative. I agree that your people’s contributions are immense, but more often than not they’re not for Australia and not in Australia’s interest.
@paulking51993 жыл бұрын
@@ScufflesWaffles You have some pretty massive misconceptions about Asians in Australia. I don't think you realise how much we dislike the government of our "motherland". As for work, most Asians aren't shop owners and if you talk about dodging taxes, you'll find that's a widespread problem, regardless of ethnicity.
