Learning about this now and i'm half tanked, but the idea that RATM or ZDR sold out is frankly insane, they could not have been more clear at all times about the message, and instead of making money for the past 30 years with their success, they supported revolutions over the world and specifically in SA. No human is a saint, but the band could have made probably 400x as much if they had kept touring america and europe instead of trying to raise money for causes they cared about.

I agree with you, they never sold out. I find most of the people that claim that have two complaints: 1) they got rich (socialism isn’t a poverty cult) Or 2) they claim Rage required covid vaccines to attend their shows in 2020-2022. First of all, the shows were postponed in 2020, 2021, and 2022, so they never played a show with a vax mandate. Secondly, those requirements were issued by city/county ordinances at the venues, not the band. Either way, by the time they finally played in 2022 all of the mandates had been lifted and not a single person had to show proof of vax. And finally, even if they had required that (they didn’t) god forbid they try to protect people during a deadly worldwide pandemic.

I mainly call them hypocrites because of things they did and said durning the "pandemic" (pushing for people to do what Authority told them to, censorship, and indoctrinating youth)- but yeah, if Greenday were called "sell-outs" then obviously Rage is too. There are ways to be successful, and companies to better sign with than who they did sign with. As an "anarchist" myself it pisses me off that they dare try to claim that identification.
