I really wish the UbiArt engine was public, it's absolutely amazing, and I can see people making completely custom rayman games. If they're planning to ditch the entirety of the rayman series, they should at least release UbiArt to the public, plus the project files for both Legends and Origins.

This is an exceptionally powerful 2D engine. They're using spline meshes and an intelligent lighting system, and an animation system that uses 2D bones and bitmap graphics. The end result is essentially the destruction of tile-based 2D design into something more organic with an extremely high quality presentation and ease of use. Wow.

I see the art more as an appealling style. Kind of like how a person can recognize Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee and Rob Liefield (my favorite comic artists of the 90s) just based on how they draw their characters and scenes. I think the new thing is to take the comic book approach and to bring in a sense of style into games.

We are making a game with Spine and we love the tool. If you Check the Spine Forums in ShowCase and search "The intergalactic Trashman" you will see our game! You can watch our channel too.
