This game destroyed him in the end in my opinion. We all know that Byron (RIP) doesn't handle failure really well. On top of all the sentimental issues that he's been having, recently proposing to his ex on twitter. If he were to start to look back on how much money he wasted on the game, all the vultures abusing his trust trying to milk him or steal his ideas. Add to that the fact to that the fact that the game wasn't even finished nor close to being the hit he had anticipated in his mind, I'm pretty sure all of this would send any of us to a deep abyss of depression. So sad :( And this is just what we gathered from a 10 min for a really short time frame 2k18. This journey has really taken a toll on him that's for sure. RIP Byron, you will be remembered forever in our hearts. AngelThump

@Toke Asaurus420 I don't presume to know what was going on in his mind as not even his family or closest friends could. And yeah there are probably many factors leading to this tragedy, but the fact remains that even if it wasn't the nail on the coffin, it weighed heavily on him. Even his friend & lead designer Talbadar said it. Source here: "Byron had been under a lot of stress recently due to us soon needing more funds for the project and being girlfriend-less during these isolating times of COVID" www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1sra7rc and this: www.reddit.com/r/LivestreamFail/comments/hlgk7q/jenna_confirms_reckful_wasnt_a_multimillionaire/ In the End, nobody can save you from yourself. As for the degree vs experience argument, after hearing way too many opinions over the years I settled on the following: aside from fields which require a degree (medical, law etc.) experience tends to be way more valuable than degree however in some fields it might be hard to get the experience without getting the degree first a/o it's easier to get experience in desired field with a degree. IT / programming is still a fairly fresh industry filled with pretty liberal companies which are not afraid to hire people without degree therefore it's easy to get experience even if you learnt programming by yourself therefore degree looses value. If a degree is valuable then depends on many aspects including you, the area, the field etc.

I don't see this game working. Not being a hater, but I don't think people want to hang out on a "social" game nowadays like they did in the past. When I first got online in the 90s, I played a game called Worlds Away, it was a 2D social game in which you could move around a 2D world, talk to people hanging out and change outfits and heads on your characters. It was crazy at the time because not many people were online back then and talking to people from other countries was a novelty. You couldn't quite believe you were talking to real people. Not sure people would want to spend time in a world like that nowadays--if they did they'd already be playing one of the other games out there doing the same thing. I just don't see that game market share being that big. And what is reckful planning to do for money? How is he going to keep the servers running? Will he get any income from it? Will there be age restrictions? If not you could get in to some sticky situations when it comes to minors being groomed on your platform.

@@thinking-ape6483 Everything you say is true. He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, and so is his mother. He was highly susceptible to mental illness, and his brother's death added incredible trauma to his life. But I still believe it was a perfect storm of circumstance and opportunity. If you haven't had a chance to watch Mizkif's video or read Talbadar's twit longer, there was large financial strain on Everland that was weighing on Reckful. Friends were checking in on him every day. But he was alone that morning. Who knows what stressors were activated that might have been avoided if he wasn't so isolated for months, or worried about the future of Everland? Many of his friends have mentioned that Byron had a need to be around people. He was doing this at a reduced capacity for months. There's actually a big debate if inevitable suicide is really a thing. Some experts believe it is. Most do not. I for one, don't believe in hopeless cases.

It's a thing that differentiates generations but when reckful commited suicide lots of viewers where chatting with crying, sad, etc emotes which made me think he was just ending his stream al together because he wanted to focus on everland and future projects and managing his game creation bussines.

You should make an updated modern version of 2d Ultima Online, the pvp mmorpg scene has been missing a hardcore game like that for so long...

Why, what do you know about the game?
@TheFuneralFrog4 жыл бұрын
@@oriyus generally in games like this that include minigames and small bits of lore I like the the progression bits i.e. card jitzu or secret agents in club penguin, I'm mainly a wow player so if I am to enjoy this game I definitely am gonna want to feel a sense of progression
