People CAN change for the better. Usually the trigger is one good influence in their lives to steer them the right way. Obviously for Rigby that was Eileen. He rejected her at first likely seeing this positive as a one off or temporary once she got more then a glimpse at him. But over time and as they got to see more and more of each other he slowly let her into his life. His personality was always that of an attention seeker at the start. His folks barely gave him the time of day and even his friends did the same except Mordecai. This would cause a huge mistake for him later and ruining his best and only real friends life. His go to was always being a jerk and outwardly showing off to get that attention, but for Eileen she didnt need it to be drawn in. This may have caught him off guard. Being a smart gal and an oddball herself, she may have seen this as a challenge and kept at it. She would eventually be a confidant for him for times he felt weak and couldnt go to his best friend for. And soon this would build even further until they became an item. I think as pointed above the climax of his old self was when he saw that list. At that point he really cared for her and wanted to be more then just something he saw as useless towards her (his negative view coming out in waves on himself) so he figured his best chance was going back and finishing high school. And the rest....we already know.

I always liked Rigby slightly more than Mordecai In the early seasons, he was quite a jerk to Mordecai at times, but he did always apologise or make up for what he did to him at the end of a episode some how. If you wanted a loyal friend, then you'd want Rigby as a friend. Rigby only bullied Mordecai at times because Mordecai always took his friendship with him for granted and only cared about getting Margret, then CJ. As time went on, Rigby becomes more mature and starts to accept a relationship with Eileen, but he would never ditch Mordecai for her, heck, he even got himself "dumped" to save Mordecai. In one episode, Mordecai gets kinda mad at Rigby for going place and doing stuff with Eileen without him, to which he reminded Mordecai of how he always did the same thing to him, with CJ. Rigby was always a loyal friend, he always supported Mordecai as he matured, realising Mordecai just wants to have a relationship with at least someone, not being interested in hanging out with his own best friend at times.

It's actually funny how Mordecai's true nature was revealed over time. He accusses Rigby of destroying his future and while true Rigby did have apart of that it doesn't change the fact that Mordecai at any point could have challenged the fake rejection letter or re-applied himself. Mordecai throughout the show has proved to us that unless Rigby or some outside force pushes him forward he has no intention of using his own drive to get something done. This is a constant problem through a lot of the seasons and at multiple points has risked or killed someone in the process. So quite possibly if Mordecai had gone to college without Rigby whose to say he would have done the minimum in the first place? Even his future self has even regretted going corporate and only did it because someone forced him to. So i'm glad they had redemption for both of them.

This is a controversial opinion but I actually like season 7 and I really love season 8 even tho a lot of people don’t like it. Rigbys character development was definitely the best in the series, but most people don’t acknowledge bensons character development. He went from a grouchy boss who always put work first to someone who enjoyed goofing around with his employees and having fun with them. He was also lonely at the start with little friends and then later became more social and got a cool girlfriend
@supremeturtle46204 жыл бұрын
When the severity of the next season took place I was afraid Rigby was going to die because he had just grown as a person and... you know how story writer love to kill characters after they had a major inner victory sometimes.

The thing I liked the most about the whole "Rigby redemption arc" is that, like you said, he made peace with every single one of his bad relationships, but most importantly, he also did it with Mordecai at the end, because they didn't had an healthy friendship before. I just find it well thought out.

I spent June and July watching RS for the first time. It took me a couple of tries to get into it (I mostly stayed for Mark Hamil lol), but I was really impressed by the character development. And I liked that Mordecai sort of de-evolved as Rigby matured; I think it was good to have that contrast, and even at Mordecai's simpiest, you knew he'd learn from his mistakes eventually.

I'm confused, did Mordecai just not end up going to art school and drop out? Yeah Rigby changed his college acceptance letter making it so Mordecai didnt get into the college they were both tryna go to but Mordecai still went to Art school. It shows scenes where they're in Mordecai's dorm at art school and Rigby is chilling there when Mordecai was tryna study/do an assignment or something. Y'all act like Rigby ruined his whole life, Mordecai chose to drop out of art school Rigby didnt force him to. Mordecai bullied Rigby on many occasions and resented him when he was working hard to graduate high school. I was rewatching the series recently and the whole time my brother and I were talking about how fake Mordecai was the entire show and how Rigby was the better friend overall. Now this is all just my opinion so please dont hate me. Also if I was wrong about something or you feel differently please let me know I'm curious to see how other people feel.

"I think it all happened when he met Eileen." Eileen first showed up in season 2, that was well before Rigby's redemption. Maybe it would have been better to say when he started hanging out with Eileen more/when they started dating.
@Connie_TinuityError Жыл бұрын
Ah, but here's the problem. We have no idea when exactly they started dating, as their relationship wasn't revealed until at the end of season 6.
@Connie_TinuityError Жыл бұрын
@Edge Valmond Yeah... but no. In the episode Lift With Your Back (a season 6 episode no less), Rigby was vocally jealous of Mordecai even having a girlfriend when he says "You have things all the time! Player 1, the bed, punchies, a diploma, a girlfriend?!" thereby implying that Rigby didn't have a girlfriend at the time and therefore hadn't actually started dating Eileen yet.

"over it's 7 season run." No. Regular Show lasted 8 seasons. 8! Which when you think about it is how many main characters there were in the final season. 1) Mordecai 2) Rigby 3) Benson 4) Skips 5) Pops 6) Hi-Five Ghost 7) Muscle Man 8) Eileen "Coincidence...? I think NOT!"

Unironically one of the best of the "trashy best friend" trope. For so many seasons Rigby was so bland usually being the catalyst for the other characters in the story, like when he went into a coma doing the omelet challenge and everyone praised the episode for mordecai sticking up for Rigby. Feels good to have actual Rigby centric episodes

As a child, I understand Bensons rage at them all the time. They never do their job. I don’t know if Rigby changed after but I understand benson in the earlier seasons. Also Pops is so relatable, people honestly just consider him weird but he just does his own thing.

This goes back to one of the main reasons I love this show, in like half the episodes, the biggest enemy is themselves. If anything, regular show is very much focused towards young adults, and it really shines through in the messages behind the episodes, which 7/10 times are about how we as the "protagonist" are in the wrong.
