Really fantastic Red/Blue Dalek designs! Always wondered how that would have turned out. But I am happy they went for the Ivory/Grey design, it helps the story fit in with the continuity of Revelation. Also the original Daleks had been grey for so long that them maintaining that colour help sell them as being the ‘pure’ ones in this story!

1:36 Remembrance is one of the stories I’ve watched the most, I can practically recite it from memory. Seeing footage from it that I’ve never seen before is genuinely disorienting. I can only describe the sensation like if you glanced in a mirror and it didn’t completely match what it’s reflecting.

This superb footage emphasises once again why the proceeding story (The Happiness Patrol) looked so rough and cheap by comparison - they'd blown a chunk of the Season's budget on Remembrance' instead! Interesting video. Remembrance Of The Daleks was one of the first series by the BBC to be produced in stereo and broadcast in NICAM Stereo, but in London & the South-East region only from the Crystal Palace transmitter. Obviously, you'd had to have had NICAM decoding equipment to receive it in digital stereo, which not many people had in 1988.

In the original script the Imperial Daleks were dark red, with black spheres and their leader was the Emperor Dalek was white with gold spheres and the renegade Daleks were originally dark blue with silver spheres and their leader the Dalek Supreme was jet black with silver spheres.

Interesting about the colour schemes, and information i've not heard elsewhere. I'm glad they chose to go with the colours we saw on screen. As much as I like brightly coloured Daleks, this story kind of follows on from how Revelation of the daleks ended and I think keeping the colours the same helps keep the link between those two stories.

Sounds like a special weapons Dalek became a narrative albatross. Pretty hard to have mutants attacking humans or hiding in Dalek casings when they're all vaporized.

I've never seen the daleks rock around so much. This kind of action should never be filmed if the practical issues cannot be resolved, and the special weapon dalek looked like the top was going to come off several times. The director/production team needed to come up with ways to minimise this, it's their job to present a believable scenario of sorts.

Daleks basically operating on three orange wheelbarrow wheels in a tricycle formation which is why they cannot turn on the spot, as seen with the Supreme being confronted outside the gate. This also causes the wobble. The Special had a dome which was just resting on its shoulders. This can be seen bouncing loose in the final version as the Imperials leave the yard with the Hand. I was also annoyed that multiple Daleks say “We obey.” Instead of “I obey. The most outrageous part though is the Doctor saying about the Dalek mothership having weapons ‘capable of cracking open the planet like an egg.’ “...but even they, ruthless though they are would think twice before making such a radical alteration to the timeline.” Then he proceeds to goad Davros into destroying Skaro and presumably the Thals and any other innocent life forms. (I know this was later changed to a decoy planet, but that doesn’t make any sense so I discard that explanation.)

I have worked in both the audio post production and the film business for over 20 years. Saying Doctor Who or Star Wars was fixed in the edit is like saying the turkey dinner was saved in the oven. Editing is how a movie or television show is made. There can be as many as 60 scenes in one four part story of Doctor Who from the classic era. And each scene will have theee angles or more. Most shows will go through multiple edits. The editor may have a rough idea. The director may have input as well. But most first edits are bad. This is common place.

We understand that view yes. It is a slightly click-baity title but we feel justified in using the term in this case. An 'error' was caused by changing what was scripted during the filming. Therefore the 'fix' for that error came in the edit.

Can any of you guys explain the very brief ghost scene just after the battle under the bridge? The supremes retreat and the squad leader screams ‘retreat’ and the camera switches to the firing renegade who shoots directly down the camera. There’s a large flash and then a very brief blink and you’ll miss it shot nothing to do with anything appears in the flash before we cut to the mothership bridge. It’s like there was originally a scene following the battle already edited in after it but then edited out afterwards a frame too late.

I am sure i remember seeing some footage back in the uk gold reruns on one of the documentarys of an elevator scene where the doctor and ace was being shot at from daleks and they basically ducked onto the floor as the door was closing and the elevator had a window in the backdrop of the school playground. It was definitely an outtake but unfortunately I've never been able to find it again to confirm this fully but I'm quite sure that's what i saw as a kid if I'm wrong fair enough i love you're video's btw keep up the goodwork 👍 maybe you can help put my mind to rest about the elevator scene.

Matthew Duncan imagine the body horror of seeing heavily damaged Cybermen with what’s under the armor being shown. Or like a real horror moment where a Mondas cyberman gets the cloth ripped off by a companion and you see either a skull or the skin stretched over a metal skull. One of the French teachers where I went to high school was an ex-policeman who supervised part of the Remembrance shoot. He has a distinct memory of watching three daleks coming down a ramp (possibly leaving the shuttle) and the third one came down so quickly it fell over forwards. Funny to watch, but probably not fun for the operator.

I remember at the 50th Anniversary Convention, Sylvester McCoy told a story about the massive explosion from the Special Weapons Dalek. When the gate exploded, it triggered a lot of alarms across the area (Which I believe can be heard in the behind the scenes footage), to which people contacted the police because of the disturbance. So then, a policeman (I think it was a policeman) arrived to the scene, and all he saw were Daleks emerging from a yard of debris. It's so hilarious, because it's not everyday a policeman is informed of an explosion occurring and when cropping up to the scene of the crime finds a group of Daleks slowly revealing themselves. I can only imagine how the police officer reacted or even looked like at that moment. XD

Yes, it they were going to show those Daleks they should have at least had some smoke comng from the neck section to suggest they were dead.

@@Dalek6388 We could say they were put into permanent statis, with the possibility in time of awakening after a re-program by the victorious daleks using the hand of Omega , but then they could realise that captured dalek technology on earth was not a good thing to have so the warrior dalek was sent back with two white guards to see off the army and the warrior obliterate the remaining ones.

Check out the Daleks in "Destiny of the Daleks", if you think they look wobbly here, the ones in "Destiny" look almost inflatable 🤔😂

I think it was wheelbarrow wheels fitted to them to allow them to traverse uneven ground that made them wobble. And In "Destiny" they got around the problem by having vacuum-formed half-Daleks carried along in the distance 😅

It’s such a shame. So much about this story is absolutely brilliant. Having the Daleks not looking their best is one of the few marks against it.
