How Reolink save me a lot of Trouble & Argus 4 Pro - 1453

We had burglars in the neighbours house when they left on the same day for holidays. the burglars cut a hole through our wire-fence to escape in our garden and then to a waiting car when they were spottet by another neighbour. At this time i was in the living-room watching TV but i didn't see them passing the window. it was the second time in 10 years. After that, some neighbours installed security-systems and some installed video-surveillance. I installed cameras all around our house recording 24/7 with local AI on the recorder and person/vehicle detection and many other features. They're nightvision 4K cameras, but i installed some floodlights with pir-sensors as well. We live in a small village with about 1000 citizen. Bad world...

Wow. Creepy weird guy! I’m glad you were able to get the Camera installed before you returned to Denmark. We have Reolink here in the US, and I’ve been considering a camera outside my home, so your info was helpful. When I look for property in Portugal I want to find a place we’re there may be two registered homes where I can stay in one when I’m in Portugal and rent out the other…so there is always someone on and watching the property acting as caretaker/Gardner. Being an older single lady I would feel safer with someone around. Especially when “visitors” show up. Your “visitor” confirmed my plans!!! Happy New Year. Thank you for sharing.

Please know that nothing happened,, and nothing has happened in the three years I have had the house now,, this is the most suspicious thing ever recorded :-) Before I arrived this time, I had made arrangement for cleaning of my house. The cleaner was dropped off by the company,, and when she was done, she was outside waiting to be picked up,, I saw a neighbor drive by,, back up, ask the cleaner what was up,,, that made me so happy!

Reolink cameras tend to be good value for money and easy to setup / add. To extended the cameras battery life you could connect it to a power bank enclosed in an IP65 enclosure. I linked to power banks together in an enclosure and ran the USB-C cable to the camera which gives you 3 to 4 months life without charging.

I got a ReoLink 8 channel NVR with 4 POE cameras and am very happy with it. The best part is that the cameras can tell the difference between cars and people and send me a notification in either case. It also can detect any motion but I have that turned off or I would be getting notifications every time a squirrel or rabbit paid me a visit, I had this situation with another brand that only had motion detection. It's also nice to be able to check on the cameras with a phone, computer or with a monitor and mouse attached to the NVR.

Are SD-cards durable enough ? and what about read/write with alot of cameras?

It only records when something moves and activate the camera,, I have had nothing all day,,, so no traffic on the SD card.

IMHO wifi and no poe is deal-breaker for security cameras.

Some of my walls is 60-70cm thick and in solid granite,, not easy to manage cables :-/ If you are a sophisticated thief, with a wifi jammer,, my house is not worth your effort.

It would've been smarter if the home hub had a couple USB ports for hard drives or whatever. SD cards don't have great endurance.

Yeah as it is wifi, it can be interfered, so sd card in camera is good for redundancy. M.2 sata slot would fit better into the HUB. I feel like HUB with SD card hamering from up to 8 cams is gona smoke the SD card in notime. 😅

take industrial sd-cards as big as the cameras can use, than you have enough spare memory-cells and it will survive longer. but for continous recording nothing beats classic harddisks. they live much longer than the best consumer-ssd's in this scenario.

I have 6 Reolink cameras at my house in Thailand and just upgraded one of them to the trackmix smart camera last month. I have two solar powered and the rest POE from the DVR and they have all performed flawlessly for the past 2.5 years. The motion tracking is definately a deterent as most people don't know that cameras can do that now and think an actual person is watching them, and my wife uses the two way audio function regularly to yell at the gardeners when things aren't done the way she wants them done. Thumbs up from me for the Reolink cameras. And happy new year Morten :)
