Thank for the information. You would not have the instruction part number by chance? I am looking for it but cannot seem to fine it.

Paid someone else to replace my water pump last year, on my 1957 Evinrude 5.5HP Fisherman, bummer, that looked relatively easy. Took my boat out this spring, on the 5th or 6th pull, broke the rewind/ recoil spring. More bummer, but, at least I diagnosed, ordered the part, and just finished the install. That was probably more difficult (just a PITA) than the water pump would have been. Good video.

Thanks for the comments. I'm learning....most of these old motors are pretty easy to work on yourself. Good Job!!!

Did anyone notice he installed the impeller backwards, motor spins clockwise, so when you look at it upside down the impeller should look like its spinning counter clockwise. It fixes itself once you start it up, but it could malfunction
@enigma97897 жыл бұрын
yup. he fudged up. you will ruin the impeller like this.
@holdenguy755 жыл бұрын
An impeller will correct itself by itself if installed wrong. No big drama.

Thank you for your knowledge helped me alote.. I have a question for you.. I have the 1975 Johnson seahorse 15hp an I changed the water pump on mine but it dont have a groove at the top of the driveshaft for a o ring. Does mine not need it or do I just place it about the same place yours went.. thank you for your time and knowledge
@mrsuarez4306 жыл бұрын
You can pull the drive shaft out no problem great vid bud ! Ylbtw you can also put oil on the impeller and inside of case i like to put some gasket compound or some gasket maker between the lower unit and plate and between the plate and impeller housing some indian head works wonders for me ✊

I was wondering where you found the year it was made? Is it stamped in the plate directly or in some form of code. Nice vid. I just picked one up yesterday. Thanks for the vid. Just when I need it.

How’d did you get the bottom back attached to the motor? I’ve gotten stumped at that point. Having a difficult time getting the linkage back locked in
@jacksonharrington4534 жыл бұрын
You have to have slid the shifter linkage onto the rod then push it in just to say so you can fit that little screw back in... it won’t go back together if the screw on the linkage is in there. It has to be put in last before closing the bottom end.

Nice job now you can do mine, hahah.

yyeeeo live buzzzin ,why don't my 9.9 77 don't have the power no more to push my 14 boat, I done changed every thing, all it do is 5 mph on full throttle,iam stumped
@mulespur48064 жыл бұрын
You would have better luck knowing that steering rod was the shifter and could have moved down more with shift lever
@MrLupold7 жыл бұрын
shift linkage

What did I call it? "Thingy"?
@olsinskute85467 жыл бұрын
Typical...another video showing all the easy stuff without explaining just how you actually reconnect the gear shaft to the coupler. You can mess about with it all day but if your gear shift is not in forward position and your lower leg gear is not in reverse, you'll never get it together...not with functioning forward, neutral and reverse gears...
@LifeBuzzN7 жыл бұрын
It's all working great. Sorry I didn't explain it enough for you to feel good.
@michaelwinter86335 жыл бұрын
I agree with Olsin. I liked ur video but you could have shown us the hard stuff.
@alexmty2017 жыл бұрын
wow shift linkage not steering linkage and your motors toast probly cause you toally botched the water pump ..smh Do Not try this @ Home Folks
@LifeBuzzN7 жыл бұрын
"toast"? Actually, it runs great.....even now. I'm not sure you understand what you are talking about.
