Indirectly proportional to your assets/net worth after you reach one million dollars. For instance if you are a techie (or Tech Lord), you simplify, disregarding normal conventions of the middle class like bathing, deodorant, several articles of underclothes, etc. tech lords may only have one suit or one tie, no dress watch, no sports watch but will have wearable tech, possibly prototypes of their company’s work. First time viewer of your channel, and I totally agree! Well done! Bought mine at 56, have other watches for daily wear, net worth within your parameters, and live in Dallas. Retired at 59 and at 72 would not sell it. It has been a productive investment. Wear it as my dress watch, and from those in the "know" get THE question..." is that a Patek Philippe?" Everyone knows a Rolex.

I partially agree with Archie , some one once said that your watch should be one percent of your net annual salary , this is not realistic for many people but one percent of your net worth is right on the nose . With the age bracket suggestion , I am more traditional Several decades ago when integrity ruled the business world , many people would get luxury , often gold luxury watch as a retirement gift from the Boss for many years of hard work and loyalty to the firm , people retired in late sixties at that time, and still a luxury watch was a very valued token of appreciation . : )

Although I have my doubts about what is the wealth you need to accumulate, before buying a watch. I agree that minimum reserve of wealth $3million plus net worth before considering buying Patek Phillipe Calatrava .. ; Rolex Daydate; ... : - age bracket 45-55 years old. ; However; if patek told the world you need to accumulate $3million before considering buying Patek, the brand would go out of business before it begin.

If you had 1mil in the bank (not to mind 3mil), do you really think you would lose sleep over 20k for something you really wanted and planned on keeping the rest of your life. To get to that leave of wealth you have to have a very high paying job or work for yourself. Thoses people manage their money very well and are smart enough to known, if you buy smart, you can always get out without losing money or very little for any brand. You never knew anyone who died young, Lifes short, spend your money on what you love, as long as you are not blowing it.
@THX-C3 жыл бұрын
@@Mr-Merchant. exactly, if I was frugal with three quarters of my life: no car, not boozing st the bar or vacationing twice a year, you should treat yourself! I love my Patek 3919j. I bought pre-owned (the one I wanted not the latest model) and it cost me way less than a Batman or a Cermit. It’s my one good watch. I wear a couple of Casios for daily wearers and am satisfied - Casio never promises anything more than it can deliver. For $13.69, I couldn’t be happier. Getting back to the Patek: I wind the Calatrava every morning, take it out for lunch and wear it about about 25 hours a week. No crazy watch boxes, no trips to a bank safe, etc. Life is good.

I just turned 42. I’d say my business is worth $5M. I still got a little sick buying my Patek Philippe Calatrava USED. Spending over $2k for anything makes me cautious. On the flip side, I don’t view luxury watches as expenses, I view them as stores of wealth.

Funny Arch should ask this. I've been talking to a Patek AD just this week. I'm on the point of getting another TWO of them. It isn't really about how rich you are.
